	Plane Flies Into Building Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Just heard an announcement that a Cesna plane flew into a 42 story building in Tampa. The pilot was a student and didn't have clearance for take off and was tried to be talked down by air control... anyone got more info on this?

Um... you can (provisionally) drive a car at 15 in some states, IIRC.

Personally I think even 16 is too young.

Maybe the co-pilot (instructor?) took over... maybe it wasn't the kid after all.

As basic flying errors go, not spotting a skyscraper tops the lot I think.

It says in the story that two floors of windows were shattered but if you look at the picture, one window is smashed. Pretty good flying if that's where he was aiming. He was probably trying to land in there.

Well the damage doesn't look too great fortunately, with it being a weekend there should, hopefully, not be many people in there. Obviously all those on the plane will be dead.

Yeah, at least the pic on http://www.tampatrib.com/ shows that the plane went right through a window, and that only two offices were damaged.
If the kid was thinking of making serious damage to the building while doing a showy suicide, he'd be disappointed.

What kind of shitty security do you have that a 15 year old can steal a plane, take off, and crash into a building?

Why was a helicopter alerted which had no means of stopping him??

Is it better for dozens of people to die in when he crashes or one lunatic?

Still, I'd thought american's have learnt a lesson or two in making sure people who aren't supposed to get to dangerous things like planes, don't get into them.

Still, Israel is in better readyness !

Several weeks after Sept. 11 an unknown private plane was spotted in the sky. It was nearly shot down!

Luckaly they identified in time. It was a group of Rabbis, traditionally flying over Israel during the new year season to pray for and bless the land of Israel and it's citizens. They do it every year, but of all times, it was after Sept.11 that they forgot to coordinate the info with the police and airforce.

It would ahve been shame if they had been shotdown, but it would have been their own guilt.

Part of what America values is freedom. They don't want to live in a military state like you, they want freedom. The chances of this happening are beyond remote, and hardly call for military-like security for all private airplanes.

They did contact the plane.


Shooting it down would be absurd, since they where likely trying to talk to him and give him directions. It'd be better taking a chance then to shoot him down and ensure that the plane is destroyed, aswell as making it go down in a fireball into the middle of a street or something. And not to mention the general absurdity of using missles on such a small plane.

I just have to say this: Only in America!

Obviously shooting your fellow schoolmates isn't cool anymore amongst kids. Planes into high buildings is the way to go nowadays.

I predict that the american 'Goth-trend amongst US trailer-trash/Ricky Lakes-guests will subside and all insecure teenagers will turn Muslim in yet another juvenile attempt to rebel against their parents.
