It's A Habit, Not An Addiction Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Well, mostly anyway. Some people say they get headaches when they don't drink the pepsi, but i never did when I quit for a long time. It's mostly a habit.

I'm almost as bad as Faded is. Lately, I have been subtituting pepsi with milk or some kind of juice or even just water. But when I eat out I invariably drink a soda or beer.

At home I drink Pepsi

When I eat out I drink Dr. Pepper

When I'm driving long distance, I always have a pepsi or Mountain Dew in my hand or close by.

So It's hard to stop the habit. My advice is to just buy different type drinks. Juices, or milk or just anything besides pepsi. Don't try and quit it all at once or you will fail. Just cut back at first. Summer is approaching and the lure of a nice cold pepsi will tempt you but have some lemonaide instead. I find one of the worst times is during break at work. It's just a routine of mine to go into the lounge and get a pepsi and read the paper. Recently they took at one of the soda machines and replaced it with the different types of juices.

Get a bigger avatar today!

I drink a fair bit of the "Diet" stuff, so I don't get the sugar rush. I temper the caffeine intake by drinking the fizzy stuff sans caffeine. I do drink too much fizzy stuff out of habit though - but I don't drink tea/coffee or any other caffeine drinks, so hopefully that cancels out.

Unfortunately there is not much else to drink but water - so why not carbonated flavoured water. Is nutrasweet bad for you?

Duh,

We are talking about companies (Coke and Pepsi) that fought a war in Thailand in the '80s (with guns and dynamite) shooting and blowing up each other's distributors. Coke has called in death squads in Colombia and Guatamala to kill union organizers. Pepsi works with a government that practices slavery (Myanmar). You think they have any qualms about addicting you?

Not missing the caffene Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

It's a combination of the caffene and the sugar. My advice, ween yourself off one, then the other. I first switched from Coke to Sprite. After two weeks of Hell (caffene addiction withdrawls is not pretty--but then, neither is caffene addiction), I didn't need it any more. After about a year, I stopped driking so much Sprite, and now I hardly have sweet soda at all (I still will go in for ginger ale or any of the hand crafted sodas, but rarely).

BTW, my best friend's dentist told him that that he had to quit drinking soda. He was drinking so much (about 1 2-liter bottle a day) that he was dissolving the enamal on his teeth.

As for the caffene addiction, I decided to break the habit just in order to get some sleep, but I got two unexpected benefits. The daily headaches I'd had for well over ten years were gone within two weeks of going cold turkey and my constant heartburn went away. I could now sleep through the night without waking up multiple times a night. If I have more than one Coke or cup of coffee in a day and if I have it later than lunch, all of the symptoms return.

One of the smartest things I ever did.

Put an end to popups!

It's simple, instead of pouring a glass of pepsie, pour a glass of nice cold ice water, and drink that instead.

I used to drink as much as 2 litres of sprite everyday, all it took was a brita water filter to get me drinking water again (not very good water where I lived)

And yes, they do this on purpose... of course, it's illegal to put addictive substances in it these days. But they can still make someone psychologically need it.

The acid. The acid in Coca-Cola is very strong stuff. If you drop a tooth in a glass of Coke, it will dissolve it completely in about a week.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I used to drink about 2 liter cola per day.

I stopped because I wanted to lose some weight and drank water (Spa) instead. Damn... that was the easiest 12 kilo's ( 26,4 pounds ) I ever lost!! Okay I worked out 1,5 hours per week but still... I played soccer every week when I was at school (and drinking cola) and I only gained weight.

If I drink enough water, then I'm too full to drink carbonated beverages. Just like if I eat enough celery, I'm too full to eat food that actually has a caloric value to it.

You reckon carbonic acid in fizzy drinks is more acidic than the hydrochloric stuff in your stomach? Surely drinking Perrier should be as bad for you?

Don't some fizzy drinks have acid stabilisers in them?
