Paiktis22: I tried one of the servers you posted, got a ping around 300. I'm used to a ping around 10-40, so needless to say I didn't do very well

Here are the pings I got from those servers, they are all more or less within an acceptable range, the last one being especially good.

I tried the Counter-Strike 1.3 Server (the one you got a ping of 50 on) and OMFG did it suck!. There were about 8-10 people on the server, I suspect 3-4 of them was cheating. 2 of them openly admitted they cheated...

We will probably have to search a while to find a server which is playable, with regards to both ping and cheating.

I get so pissed of by these cheating idiots ruining the game

I just have a crappy modem so I have resigned myself to the fact that I'll have a pathetic ping... (I have no plans of getting adsl soon maybe just isdn)

So we can check and play in one of those servers Saturday? One that is mostly empty?

My ping is sh*t anyway.

I got 200-300 on those servers Yog tested.

The only really weird thing is that I ping higher on a Dutch server than on a German one

I thiunk we should resign ourselves from getting a server with a great ping for everybody. There's no use.

For example in the Greek servers I get 150 ping with my crappy 56K but Yog with cable (I pressume) got 300.

And I also get high pings in most other servers, except an Irish one


I propose we just focus and pick one of the servers Yog provided us and we set our Apolyton CounterStrike meeting #1 for this Saturday.

Better still have a few alternative servers (not just one) in case it is crowded.

We first meet in Irc as Yog suggested and then we hit the servers.

Is that ok?

(we can worry about a better ping after we have our first meeting)

C0ckney thank you! It is settled then (irc is the most easy thing to use for us all to meet). We get together at 18:00 Central European Time - 17:00 Greenwich on this Saturday(tomorrow).

If your looking for a good team based FPS with not many players, (2500 on a busy day) lots of servers, and good gameplay you should try Day of Defeat.

Its a Half life mod based on WW II. Its supported in Europe, the USA, and down under. Beta 1.3b will soon be replaced by 2.0; which according to previews will lean heavy towards realism.

Anyway check out the web site if your interested in a history based FPS.

another favorite of mine is the SEAL team .

I take that fancy german semi-automatic sniper rifle and boogie.

I make quite a good Assault team member , but my top skillz lie in providing support and fire power , with the MG and a couple of granades..... or with that sniper rifle

Zoperroni as sniper I always get my ass kicked. I go for the Kalashnikov which I fire like there is no tomorrow eventually not hitting anything and finally getting myself killed

But now I prefer the double eagle or one of the semi-automatics (don't know the name). Seem to have much more accuracy when I sneak up on the enemy and nail him (my new strategy)

As a ct I usually take the m5 (I think that's the one).

BTW CS on LAN is heaven. I've played a couple of times with 20 others and it rocks. It is a whole different game on LAN.

I like this game to I play a GIGN CT or Gerrilla Terro.

I prefere short or medium range weapon. Sniping is quit exiting but I prefere to sneak into the shadow and jump by surprise on my foe with an heavy machine gun...

When i'm terro I like to have a walk with the hostages in any. It's quite disturbing for CTs...
