	Apolyton CounterStrike Club Suffering from ads?

My fellow Apolytoners,

If any of you indulge yourselves in this fantastic and very popular game, please sign in your handles in this thread so we can sometime get together on some predesignated server and play all ensemble.

I am a newbie since I just downloaded the mod 4 days ago so some of you may have the added pleasure of repeatedly kicking my ass.

There are a bunch of Greek servers as well as thousands of other servers in Europe or in the US we can play in.

CS has a huge player base, and it's impossible to find a specific player, so you'll have to pick a server and time to play if you want to meet up with anyone specific.


But anyways, I play under the same name, and generally on these servers.

Ok, what do you say we organize a meeting this Saturday at noon? Would that be ok for the citizens of the New World?

What could be a common time that is reasonable for both hemisphaires?

I would also propose that someone points out the address of a server which offers a reasonably good ping (although this depends or where that server is and where you are) so we can start meeting there untill Saturday comes.

Also to everyone who already wrote in that thread and to those who will write, it is best if we use the handles we already use in Apolyton so we can recognize eachother in that server.

For the beggining here are 2 of the Greek servers I mostly play at.

But we have to point out ONE and ONLY server that will be our Apolyton meeting server until Saturday comes. (so anyone can visit whenever he/she likes).

Both of them will soon require [url=http://www.cheating-death.com] Cheating Death (and anti-cheat program).


These are obviously not very good servers to meet on, since it is unlikely that everyone will meet the ping requirements, not to mention that they are almost always full, anyways.

Usually Insane, you have to have Half Life in order to play CounterStrike. Half Life is dirt cheap now because it is a rather old game and you also have the option of buying it with CounterStrike already installed (otherwise you'd have to download it). You also get another game. So with a dirt cheap price you get 3 of the best games all in one.

Yup, there's also a commercial stand-alone version.
They call it CS-Retail, while our version is the CS-Mod.

Do they use any anti-cheats? (so I know what to use, it's quite a few of them out there now)

My favorite servers were sadly taken down recently, but these are the server I use the most:

cs.vg.no:27015, 27016, 27017 (uses paladin)

Yog-Sothoth seeing that you are playing CS for a while and that you have also made a site about it, could you please take upon you the, yes,difficult task of proposing a server for us Apolytoners?

Can you do it?

We need a base that anyone could drop by when he/she feels like it, it's primary

Hmm, I don't know much about servers outside Northern Europe, so that would take a bit of research

I'm kind of busy these next few days, but I could look into it later.

We probably have to divide us into two, Europe and America, to get a decent ping. I propose we meet on irc before playing so we could organize it a bit and find a server.
Btw, I will try the servers you posted, to check what kind of ping I will get. Do you play with the same nick as you use on apolyton?

The server doesn't need to be outside of Nothern Europe.

A good ping would be great but I think most importantly we need an acceptable server which is not all the time full so we Apolytoners can enter.

I play with the same nick yes. But these servers are not ideal for us since they are most of the time full.



edit: in the meantime if someone else has a server to propose for all of us please do so.

But how can you get those incredibly low ping rates anyway?!? If you say they're always full, it's because some can keep it up!

I have a cable modem and a good connection to the server, I consistantly get 30-60 ping. With not-so local servers within North Aamerica I usually get 90-250 ping, on European servers (such as mentioned in this forum) I get 400+ ( )

Provided your modem and isp can handle it, it really comes down to how close the server is, and how direct and smooth a connection you can get with it.

I used to play this a lot, was in a few clans. I was friends with clan [SG] (Spice Girls) who now get paid to play CS *sigh*

I'd love to get back into the swing of things, I usually play on the demon UK servers, and I can probably find us some quiet servers to meet up on if anyone is interested
