Hi there Mihai!

I don't think that ID will be of any advantage, we seem to manage perfectly well with passports or driving licences for ID; I've never needed anything else...

Skanky, I fear you have characterized the nature of a USA National ID card to a tee.

If it ever comes to that, I'm relocating Velocigames to Australia, so save me a spot!

Hmmm....besides which....Australia is quite close to Saipan....very cool....

Skanky Burns - the idea of a smart card for ID is the best and I think this is the one witch will be put in practice.

For those who lived in communist countries, security of personal informations aren't so much a big isue. Secret police have the legal acces to all info about a person (medical, financial etc) and we kind of get used with that. We changed to democracy, but our whole system of birocracy is based on national IDs and will be very difficult to change it. In the West and most in USA there is a very strong culture of freedom and individuality and this is the reason why the nationals IDs will be delayed.

My "vision" is that there will be a neverending race between govt, who will try to control more and more (back doors in your ID software etc) and individual persons or private company who will offer/sell keys to lock the back doors. A small first example of this kind are "cookies". I noticed that Yahoo doesn't work if I disabled cookies so I stoped useing Yahoo. The power of the boycott is huge, but is really hard to convince enough people to join you. I don't try to start a boycott on Yahoo, I was just enoyed.
