I'm taking a moment to express my excitement about this project and to assure the Team that they've gotten another playtester on their hands... One problem is that I won't be able to actually enjoy a demo until I get to my home computer (currently traveling... can only get on-line in cafes), which is another three months from today, but I can still provide my input and feedback as a player.
No programming skills to add though, sorry.

I thought it was about time I downloaded a demo and give it go. It all sounds very intriging!

Thanks Mark.
Yes I have given it a whirl. First off, I must say I think the game conception is excellent. The way population grows, and can be moved. How things are produced. The science model is perfect (science when did a State discover anything?). So, I think there is a winning formula in this game conception.
Now for the actual playing of the demo (ie the helpful stuff). The learning tutorial was very good. However, the other tutorials process the turns far to slowly, if you now what I mean. Also, I never seemed to discover new technology (except once in the first sceniro), though I am not sure why...
I also found moving units clumbersome. And if you got it wrong, you cannot seem to correct it.
That is enough for now.
Sean.

Glad you like the overall design! We think we have winners in most of these areas, but of course we'll probably have a few dogs too along the way.

Glad to hear it.

That is the fault of my economics code. Each square is a little carefully modeled economy, and its too many calculations. We will speed it up, probably for demo 8. Sorry 'bout it in the meantime. I just wasn't expecting our scenarios to have so many populated squares this early.

Not sure what you mean. Never discover a whole new tech, or never see it improve?

Laurent has already coded a better approach that we moved to because of feedback on demo 7.1. It should streamline all the things you had gripes with in that area. You can read the detail in the D7.2 proposal thread if you're interested. Demo 7.2 Should be out in less than a week!
Thanks again for the feedback, that's how we get things right that are not ready for prime time!
Cya,
Mark
PS, any further feedback, please put in the D7 thread so we know where to look for it later. . .
