Who's the most intelligent/intellectual at Apolyton? Submit your votes with explanations.
The person that is nominated most will receive a title like "Apolyton Intellectual" and/or "Intelligent Apolytoner".
There can be other categories as well:
History
Biology
Theology
Civ2
Civ3
Smac
And subcategories. Titles can be awarded as well for these.
There's no hidden meaning to the place ppl has on this list. Read it horizontally and everybody's #1 Joe - top dollar! I'm sure I forgot to mention someone and there might be different opinions on who should be there. But there's always the other category.
This is my nominee for the most intelligent Apolytoner:
Lightening
He speaks several languages and delights in grammatical delecacies of the Finnish language. Quite an impressive feat for a guy with English as his mother tounge. He's British right?
Also he answered yes when I asked him if he was a language genius/universal genius in the Scandinavian thread..
This is my nominee, but you can submit more than just 1. Just number them and if there are categories involved say so.
Explaining why I chose the ppl you see in the poll:
Provost Harrison: Why is he here? Good question. Maybe he's noticed because of his post count. Other: Education, but that's probably it.
Chowlett: Education.
Lightening: Already mentioned.
Lightblue: Same as Chowlett. Well-read? His sig indicates it...or is this a front?
Ming: 'Clear-minded'. Balanced. Gandhi wannabe. Some might think he needs a lobotomy due to motoric dysfunction in the brain. Too triggerhappy banning and [cough]cursing[/cough] closing threads. At least that's what some feel.
DanQ: Doesn't see much of him, but he created this site. Not very helpful though in fixing my login problems.
MarkG: Look to DanQ. Helpful dude. Downer: Greasy olive munching Greek.
MtG: Ambitious guy that made mod. Well-read? Hmmm..For an American maybe. I'll give him 4/10.
Rogan Josh: Brilliant scientist Chegitz met at the Fermi labs?
Goingonit: I was stunned when I read his post about British poets dying in Greece. Then I realized he wasn't American, but being Canadian isn't far away, geographically that is...Perhaps well-read.
Lincoln: Articulate.
Sten Sture: Interest analyst and has the same birthdate as me. That must mean something.
Alexander's hor(s)e: Sniff sniff. Bozo. Apolyton clown. And sometimes a cute little troll? Harmless.
Ade: Witchlike IQ from the deep forests in Finland. Hansel and Gretchen style. Might be lurking in one of Finlands cold 1000 lakes.
Jack the bodiless: All brains connected to the net? Underground reservoir tank? What the heck is that all about? Half-life player?
Other, please specify: The max is sixteen. Others that I would have included if possible: Stefu (funny Finn), EvC: Seems intelligent, monolith94 (seen his pic), Dr Strangelove (cool avatar), *End is forever* (intriguing avatar, nick, bio, interests), connorkimbro (not dumb, son of a preacherman), Gibsie (saw your pic avatar once, don't like that blue jumping guy, Stefu seems to hate the similar Victor Gaelis one), Imram (due to minority quota), Sirotnikov (used to have an interesting religious sig), Snapcase (intelligent due to being Scandinavian...unfortunately committing treason in thought and deed - I'm sure he likes plum pudding - sounds awful doesn't it? Plum.), Civnation (doesn't qualify due to unfortunate permafrost, hopefully the mods will forgive him and make a big homecoming party! CivN knows his theology. Can be harsh..), Supersneak (lives in Oregon and has a cabin with Scrabble(!) – (sounds like a Scandinavian) in Montana. I want to rent it).
That's it.
If there's more stuff that should be included post it.

Disclaimer
This poll and descriptions are in no way ad hominem attacks (what is that?) and not meant to cause personal insult. A good sense of humor will be helpful to swallow this.

Wow, I made a poll! This means I can't vote now I suppose. As for well read, I try, but more a scientist than a philosopher. Not necessarily a front though, I have read Macchiavelli and Nietzsche.

It would be best if ppl didn't vote for themselves. You can vote lightblue as long as you vote for someone else. Please submit your reasons.

Should I make a poll about the silliest poll of all time?

There are many intelligent people here, to single out one or another is merely ego-stroking.
Oh and I would have voted for AH. |
Yeah yeah...I wrote that you could vote for several ppl. Unfortunately I cannot change the poll now and allow for this, but you could always write their names in a post.
I know that some are intelligent and intellectual in here, but there are different categories.
And as names keep popping up I realize that more ppl should have been included, but there is a 16 ppl limit on polls. But you could jot down as many as you like. Heck, when I saw your post I thought: "He could have been in there. Forgot about him". There are so many ppl in here..Have you seen the memberlist? It would take months just to write down all the nicks. Not doable.

oh blah. There are many people i'd have included in the poll that you did not, and many people on that poll that shouldn't have been included. Also, there are many areas about which people can be knowledgable, and there's really know way to compare between say, MtG, Sten Sture, etc. IntgrSpin knows way more about physics than just about anyone here, Sten Sture and Roland about economics, MtG about all things military related, as well has history, etc. . . n.c. being a lawyer himself is a legal expert, etc.
