I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing a PBEM of American Empire? This scenario is available from the Spanish Civ2 Site.
The theatre is the North American continent, from the start of the Civil War to the end of the Spanish American War, 1861-1899. There is a lot of empire building involved, and plenty of open space to do it in. The players are the US, the Confederates, the British (Canada), the Mexicans, the Spanish/French colonies in the Caribbean, the Indians, and the Border States.
Just about all of these are fun to play, with the exception of the Border States. If we can fill all those slots, then this could be a really interesting game.
I'll take the Mexicans
Confederates -
Border States - AI
French/Spanish -
Mexicans - winterfritz
United States -
English -
Indians -

Yeah, they're playable. Take a look at the readme file for some hints on how to play them.
Btw, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one plays out. I designed this with MP in mind, and although the scenario isn't really "balanced," the interplay ought to be interesting to watch.
IMO, the Union has the most powerful position, followed by the Confederacy. The British, French/Spanish, and Mexican all have strengths and weaknesses, and as noted, the Border States are not really playable.
Good luck and have fun.

British PM Congrats Confederate Troops
Today the British Pm Congratulated the Confederation on the Capture of Fort Sumner.. although the Canadian Governor Richards today said, they can Congratulate Everyone, but the Union is our friends as well as Confrederates and both should not be taking lightly, in the following he told reporters to Dismiss The PM's comments, as it has been heard of the Governor favouring the Union...

This month, the Mexican inhabitants of South Texas revolted! Throwing off the yoke of their Confederate masters, the Mexicans captured the town of Brownsville.
The provisional government there has asked the Mexican President for absorption into Mexico, and he has agreed to these requests. The area below the Nueces River has become a part of the Mexican Federation as the state of West Texas.
This area was unjustly stolen from Mexico by belligerent US armies in 1846, so its re-absorption by our glorious republic is only right and fair.
In other news, the new President has introduced radical reforms that will dramatically increase the size of the Mexican Army. However, he has asserted that this new and improved force will do no more than 'provide a more adequate defence against our glorious country's enemies.'
Also, the President has declared that the Mexican Republic is ready to recieve proposals of alliances from the great powers of North America. In particular, he has no wish for conflict with the CSA (Governor AI of Texas excitedly declared war when Brownsville rebelled.) President Anzac is assured that Mexican territorial ambitions in Texas have been more than satisfied.
The President continues too to call for peace with the Spanish/French expeditionary force. 'Your powerful army would admittedly do well on a European battlefield, but in the Mexican plains and hills it will be decimated by our bandits. We ask that you make peace, rather than cause us both to squander our military force needlessly,' he stated in a telegram sent to Havana.
