Turn 200!!

On the day of this milestone, Greece has successfully turned from the old ways of the brownshirts, and instead has embraced knowledge. No more shall state policy be dictated by the dictator! Instead, scientists shall rule our land. Greece is now a Technocracy.

To spare this distinguished group of fine scientific minds from the tedium of running a nation as large as Greece, I have volunteered to return to government. So in some ways, nothing has changed.

Greece wishes to congratulate Spain for their completion of the Ganja Controller. But we are a bit confused about this. Did the smoke from "funny cigarettes" somehow hurt the ozone layer?

Whatever the explanation, we are relieved that an end has come to the threat of environmental disaster, and we hope the world will join us in applauding Spanish scientists for their invention.

After poring over it, our analysts now believe that Tomas De Torquemada may not have been killed in a bizarre miniature golf accident as had been previously believed, and may even be returning to the reins of power...

Greek farmers look on with admiration as Inca agricultural experts convert a formerly barren plain into lush farmland. A shining example of what can be accomplished when the sword is converted to the plough!

But I have to ask our French friends what they think thay are doing on the Mousaka peninsula north of Ruffec, near Angers.

This land is clearly Greek, and the incursion is inappropriate. We ask that the settler turn back immediately.

Turn 204--> General Glorita

After talks regarding French expansion stalled, it was decided that the problem was misunderstanding between our two nations. So in an effort to promote better cultural understanding, some French cities have today merged with Greece.

The newly merged region of Greek and French cities will either be called "Grance" or "Freece", subject to a vote by their citizens. All residents of this province will be given Greek citizenship, with all of the benefits traditionally enjoyed by Greek citizens.

Unfortuately, this merger has been labeled by some observers as "a state of war". This, of course, is not the intention of Greece, as we are a peaceful nation.

So a Peace Treaty will be sent out to France immediately in an effort to remove this regrettable "state of war". We ask for a response to be posted here by France as to their willingness to sign this Treaty.

Upon signing, all hostilities will cease. All France military units will be allowed free passage back to France, although they will be expected to leave right away. This includes any Cyber Ninjas or other "stealth" units.

Of course French Diplomats may travel to Greece, as it is our hope that both our nations will soon re-establish Diplomatic relations and build new Embassies.

Since Anger and the new settler were shown to be of such importance to France, they shall be allowed to remain in the French nation as part of this Peace Agreement, and shall not be disturbed. But we would ask that the military units nearby move further away from Greek cities than their current position.

Greece wishes to stress to the rest of the world that we are at peace with all other nations, and intend to stay that way. We suggest that no other nations get involved in the current situation between Greece and France. Although we now have military units at our new borders with Spain, we assure you that these units are for defense only, and ask that your own military remain in their current positions.

Finally, we wish to congratulate Spain on building a city in space. May it help further our collective understanding of the universe we live in.

Rick. What do you mean by "Pennisula". It looks like you've captured the whole french country. Everyone is always picking on the french. Who are our friends, almost as dearly as we old greece to our hearts. But dont worry; im in no position to rattle any sabers. just voice my opinion. Amd i am saddened..nonetheless


Rick Im worried that you; will soon have too much cities. There is a certain limit before you get the massive revolt. I get them alot in MP. So heads up..

While Greece acknowledges that a number of French cities have now joined the Greek nation, we do not feel it is accurate to say that "everyone is always picking on the French".

After all, the only reason that nuclear war blighted our world with so many blackened squares was that sneak-attack by France upon Spain (while Greece was being temporarily ruled by the regent Hexagonian).

That led to the Great World War, the effects of which are only now beginning to fade, after the expenditure of countless PWs..

But who else has had hostile relations with France?

I do thank you for your friendly concern regarding the limited number of cities one can happily maintain. According to Celestial Dawn's figures, under our present form of government, Greece should still be OK...

Meanwhile, Spain continues to be a member of the "Wonder of the Month Club". But one does have to "wonder" if there are enough slaves in the world to justify building the Emancipation Wonder?

Slavers can no longer be built, but the Emancipation Wonder has not yet been completed.

I guess no one in this game has enough slaves for that Wonder to have been a priority for anyone.

...and I should mention that since France did not respond to the Greek offer for peace, and attacked Greek units last turn, Greece has taken more French cities this turn...

And no blame for the nuclear war should go to General Bird. It rests squarely on the shoulders of the evil and now departed St Jon!!


But the offer for peace still stands.

Greece notes the continued shrinkage of the French empire.

One more formerly French city is now Greek, one more is now Spanish, and reconnaissance by a Greek Interceptor has shown that one has ceased to exist altogether! (although the circumstances behind its disappearance are not known to us).
