Just an update on my life

I bought an engagement ring monday. I think I will propose to her this weekend. I dont know what kind of setting I should go with. Maybe some kind of dinner party with a bunch of people bringing the ring out or somthing Somthing wacky. Im a wacky guy. I spent alot of money on that damn ring. And it was a spur of the moment thing. I mean, we've never even talked about marraige. But we get along great. We've been together for 2 1/2 years almost (And we've like never been in a fight). So she better say yes.

Gentlemen, Hold your congratulations until I pop the question! (besides I caught her snooping on these forums once. So maybe she'll get the hint)

2.5 years without an arguement, eh? Wow!

Actually, I think my wife and I never argued until we became engaged and moved in together. Knew each other for almost twelve years by the point we finally moved in together... (romantically involved for six.)

And you know what we argue about? My mother mostly. It's really laughable.

Faded, my only advice: make sure your mother and she get along! It's horrible being stuck in the middle of MIL/DIL battles with nowhere to run.

Now I just hide behind my infant son and we both enter the fetal position and deficate our pants... okay sure, so he hasn't learned self control yet, but really, it's okay when you're really, really scared for your life, right?

That's what I get for marrying a red-head.

(As an aside note, the above was partially a joke... if I see anybody running around yelling that I actually wet my pants then you'll really be in for it. )

Well Ive been living with her for almost a year and a half now. I moved in cause my old place was a dump and I was too cheap to move somewhere else (Im a cheepskate, I save alot). So I decided to move in and help her pay her rent on her new apartment. I was dating her for awhile.

Of course we have had fights. But we settle it. always, theres nothing it seems can seperate us. Unless one of us cheat or somthing. Which I will not do and she is honest.

Actually.....she's blonde.

Well Faded, certainly lucky on that one... her parents hated me (okay, so her mom didn't like me) while my mom didn't like my wife.

Things between my MIL have greatly improved ever since my wife's older sister ran off and disappeared with some grungy guy off the street. She realizes that she's actually lucky to have me in the family.

My mother and my wife are the dangerous part. It may still come to pass, so be careful. Though since she's blonde you'll probably get out more or less safer than I did.

Kids on the to do list for prior to thirty? Boy I'm young! Twenty here... one kid, wife, school, work, and Apolyton... my calendar is booked!

Tired of ads?

I got hooked on the civilization games by a friend of mine who had Civ II. He showed me the basics of the game, and I got hooked from there! I also remember my trireme sinking after going three squares from the coast When I moved to New Zealand, I had to sell Civ II, and I heard of CtP 2. So I picked up CtP by accident , and here I am today, telling this story to other CtP players

When I was in Uni (in 1992) my house mate used to spend almost all of his waking moments on his PC playing Civ(I). He was always talking about it while he was playing... "Those Greeks, they're so f***ing treacherous" and stuff like that emanated from behind his monitor for a couple of years without letup, except when he came out for a bong or a peanut butter sandwhich (the back of the monitor faced the loungeroom). I thought he was a sad loser...

Then, when I was in a shop buying my first CD-ROM player (1997), I thought I'd buy a CD to put in it, and I saw CivII on a shelf, and well... I saw the light. Either that or I'm a sad loser too

I got hooked by the demo of Civ II on some other demo disk... from there it was a demo of SMAC, and then my cousin got CtP and I had to get that after playing it with him.

As far as I know the board game came out before civ make it into the computers Micropose had to to take permision due to legal stuff from the creator of the board game (Avallon Hill) and trenfer it into the PC world.

I still own a 1982 copy of the Avallon Hill's Civilization board game bought it years after and played it only once due that I could not convince any of my friends to play

Yeah... most people say Civ is the most boring game ever and they just play AoE. But then I suppose it is in the Ancient-Renaissance age. The real hardcore stuff starts in the modern age, with nukes, pollution, and tanks

No problem with AoE either . IMO, though, it's easy with civ - you either strongly dislike it or love it. You can't think "yeah, OK, a nice game" - if you like it, you get addicted, like we here are. The best proof is the long time of playing it - some of the people on the boards are playing it even for 10 years, and still not bored - AoE 2 kept me playing it for a year, after that I was taking huge breaks with it.
