your point being??KX????ON THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD HAHAHAHAHAHA

DRAKE does this sound depressing to you?

This Twilight Garden

I lift my lips from kissing you
To kiss the sky
Cloud soft and blue
And slow the sun melts down
Into your golden words for me

I lift my hands from touching you
To touch the wind that whispers through
This twilight garden
Turns into a world
Where dreams are real

No-one will ever take your place
I am lost in you
No-one will ever take your place
So in love with you

I lift my eyes from watching you
To watch the star rise shine onto
Your dreaming face and dreaming smile
You're dreaming worlds for me

I lift my lips from kissing you
And kiss the sky wide deepest blue
And slow the moon swims up
Into your golden words for me

No-one will ever take your place
I am lost in you
No-one will ever take your place
So in love with you

After looking at both the cure and doors lyrics ive realized that I probably am not very good at casting judgement, on which song might be better written. That being said, the cure song does seem to have a little more order. The End is a nice mellow song, but I certainly wouldn't put the lyrics into any great category

Well, you canīt sense the greatness in Morrissons lyrics if youīre not stoned...

And RSīs lyrics DO sound better if you donīt have to listen to him whining them

Alright, but few of these lyrics even begin to compare with some of Ben Folds pre-"Reinhold Messner".

Just about all electronica
Just about all "alternative" (barring a few of the early 90's alternative bands, when the name actually meant something)
Just about all non-thrash 80's metal (except for AC/DC)
Just about all pop-punk (excluding Green Day and the Offspring)

I think I've finished insulting everyone's tastes.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Tool's goodness comes from their technical skill. The time signatures in their later stuff is off the wall. However, they are definitely an aquired taste, and I certainly would have never gotten into them if I hadn't heard them all the time. Same goes for Radiohead. These are bands that have niche audiences who pay attention to the mechanics.

Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Greatful Dead, and others are for drug users primarily. DMB has somewhat broader appeal, but the core audience is still just a bunch of stoners. A friend of mine told me a joke about this:

quote:

What did the Deadhead say to his friend when he ran out of pot?

Man, this music sucks.

I would say Creed, Nickelback, Staind, et al. I don't feel sorry for these poor white male Americans who live miserable lives. I do feel sorry for the poor bastards stuck in traffic who have to listen to the ****.

As long as nobody mentions Sublime, or Outkast though, it's all good.

Half-hearted music that sounds like it was recorded in the mid-eighties (and the bands then did it with much more finesse and better production). Extremely boring, extremely predictable, extremely not Rock.

If you can honesty predict how the rest of the song goes, why aren't you making millions writing them? Obviously the general public loves it, seeing as it keeps floating around the #1 point on the rock charts here.

The whole point of Nickelback isn't "finesse". That's probably why you don't like it, you're missing the whole point. Typical music critic garbage.

And I also disagree with your energy comment. The songs are pretty loaded with energy, much much more so than most bands today (save for How You Remind Me, a mellow ballad-esque song...).

You blast them for originality and creativity: They're not supposed to revolutionize any genre. They never set out to. They set out to make songs many people would enjoy listening to. And they do just that.

Once you start making music better than Nickelback, Snapcase, I'll let you judge it. It sounds like all you've heard are the singles off of the album by your comments...

:

AC/DC
most punk-hardcore songs.
most of emo.
many punk songs ( OVERDOSE !)

what I like is techno, industrial, hardcore, and possible combinations of these.

of course I like most music. But my feeling is , that a music should fit the mood, not the same music all the time . Damn it , I've got George Michael's 'Jesus to a child'

Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park...basically everything claiming to be 'nu-metal'...

OK. I'm going to generalise. So basically anything with no discernible lyrics, or over-heavy guitars (sounding like 'stretching a monkey across a tennis court' as Kochanski puts it), anything overly depressing (it's like straws to a camel's back), anything with overmuch swearing in it...

And so the list goes on. Needless to say, everyone else hates my music taste and takes every opportunity to tell me how awful it is.

So for the record, some bands/singers that I DO like.

Alanis Morissette - specially the new album. Hands Clean and Surrendering - *melts*
Joni Mitchell - old, I know, but she's so good...
Tracy Chapman
SeMiSoNiC - Feeling strangely Fine, not that terrible All About Chemistry album
Ace of Base
Garbage (specially Version 2.0)
Blondie
James
Joan Osborne

Tip of the iceberg. Fire away.

Chronologically: Classical, Blues, some Oldies, Folk, "Classic Rock," Metal, Punk, Grunge, Rap, early Alternative, new Proggish-type music (Tool, for instance)...

My favorite bands would be CCR, Zeppelin, Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, Albert King, and Neil Young.

Thanks Tia. Albert King heavily influenced Clapton as well.

KX - I have to agree, unfortunately. Bad Religion's albums haven't been all that excellent recently. Nothing that great coming from them since Stranger Than Fiction. But I from what I heard from last month's release, it's much less bland.
