Got spare money?

Now we got the Apolo Program and the World Peace Center (or United nation accordinto the needs of the mod)

And also the Newtons University, Copernicus Observatory and Adam Smith trading company.

I will look for a solaris Project, Eden Project and the Globesat.
To fit into my whole needs

Edit: improved graphics and cleaner background.

GlobeSat will be hard to do - you can't really have anything by the city except perhaps another launchpad. Perhaps one with the space shuttle on?

Pedrun have these been tested yet it is not a simple as just cutting out you have to delicately resize the stuff before you can use it.

But apart from that could end me the tga so I can see what they look like on the map

Actually i was think on a satelite dish with a lab next to it.

BigMc, Actually i never tried to do any imp but i tought the work of resizing it (as you see i neve attached any picture smaller than it should be) wasnt that hard and the file size sure isnt the a matter since compared to the whole set he has to upload it is insignifcant. Also i am not worry about the text work. So i was giving all the pics i was going to actually use. But i can surely live without some of the wonders. Sorry if i got too carried away.

Tired of ads?

Ok, I've spend most of today doing the graphics to my liking, and slotting them into the working TileIndices (no, I still don't know why only certain ones work...)

I've completed the following wonders:

Pyramids
Colossus
HagiaSofia
Pentagon
HangingGardens
ForbiddenCity
ChichenItza
Petronas
EmpireState
EiffelTower (choice of two graphics, I can't decide which is better)
DomeOfTheRock
TempleOfZeus
TempleOfSolomon
Colisseum
Pharos
Angkor
TajMahal
BlueMosque
NotreDame
GreatWall (double tile-improvement)
Stonehenge
Hollywood
Kremlin
StatueOfLiberty
Sphinx
StPauls
OperaHouse
UN
CopernicusObservatory
TempleOfArtemis
GlobeTheatre
FieldDynamicsLab
ApolloProgram
AdamSmiths
TheAgency
Oracle
Cathedral
GreatLibrary

So. Unless someone comes up with a wonder that:
a) Is really deserving of being in
b) Really should be visible on the map (Globesat should not, for example)
c) Has a clear, good angle graphic available and doesn't need trawling for...
then the 38 that are currently in there are the final list.
(If anyone has a good pic of the Petronas Towers I'd be grateful.. )

Thankyou to everyone who contributed pictures, links, ideas, suggestions etc. I hope my artistic abilities ( ) have done the concept justice.

The European Wonders:

The city expansions I'm still wondering about, but it depends on what people want. Currently we have:
Pedrunn's villages
BlueO's red-brick houses
Modern City sprites
BlueO's genetic age 'gene blocks'.
Genetic age city sprites (maybe)

Do we need an industrial age, or will BlueO's "ancient" expansions suffice from dark ages to modern age? Do we need a further future expansion beyond the genetic cities/gene blocks?

After the graphics are completed, I still need to make sure the code(s) works properly, (the city expansion code is quite complex, don't hold your breath ) and then write a readme for how to use, alter and change them.

Suffering from ads?

very nice work, i was trying to work out why you had lain them out like you had - then i saw the map properly and it all came clear! On St.Pauls is it possible for the majority of the 'grass' to be transparent - it just looks 'uncomfortable' on the plains tile(i could be wrong on this)? The rest look good to go to me - excellent stuff and i can't wait(but will have too) to see this actually in one of my games.
On the city expansion i find it hard to really visualise it, so untill i can actually see how it will look, i'm not sure what the best combinations will be - still i would guess the more distinctions in style the better.
Thanks for your work on this - i'm sure it's going to totally face-lift CTP2

Yeah, in the actual game, the SLIC should scan for grassland to place it on, and some of the others too. If not, would people object to auto-terraforming?
I kinda like the grass base to some of the wonders.

I would like to see how the city graphics will look like in the game. Even if a cut and paste image "falsification". I want to compare my ancient city with BlueO's.

My Opinion: The BlueO's gene block are a little too different from the original game city style (just my opnion though). Thats why i made a genetic age imp. didnt they looked good in the in-game or you consider them not necessary? I want to compare them too.

As for the Wonders it is looking very good. I am really amazed with the amount of wonders No complaints (except that i am missing the st Peter Piazza but no problem AT ALL).
Super Great Terrifc Job

PS: I attached a copernicus observatory without the greenish thing at the side. But i think it will look good without it.

Put an end to popups!

As far as wonders go, very nice list indeed Two suggestions though:

1) Of the original list of 7 wonders, you included 6. To put it bluntly, what the hell did Mausollos ever do wrong? To put it less bluntly, do you suppose you could add the Mausoleum of Halicarnassos as well?

2) Wonders of pretty much all the world's major religions are represented: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Confusianism, Greek mythology, Egyptian, Celtic and Meso-American religions. However, one religion that has throughout history always been one of the most practiced religions on the planet is still missing: Hinduism. So, do you suppose you could add a Hindu temple as well? Personally I propose the Sri Meenakshi temple of Madurai. Although I don't have exact numbers, it's comparable in size and magnificience with Angkor Wat. (Edit: Nope, Angkor Wat is still about 35 times larger but Meenakshi is still 6 hectares large, probably big enough to fit all 7 original wonders.)

Ad 1: Here's a bunch of pictures of the Mausoleum, I hope they are any good (but I bet that games like Empire Earth also include the Mausoleum, maybe someone who has that game could post a screenshot?)

Ad 2: I don't have much hope of finding existing games which include the Meenakshi temple so we would have to rely on pictures. The entire complex consists of at least 20 towers, I guess for this mod it would be best to only use 1 or 2...

Bah, more wonders to find then

re: the 7 Wonders. The "Temple of Artemis" was an afterthought really, I got it from Harlan's graphics pack, I think its actually the temple picture from CtP1... And you'll note the Statue of Zeus is missing also. (and the answer is no before you ask... ok, maybe. maybe!!)
Anyone know of any photos of the Mausoleum around either?

The Hindu thing, okay, I'll have a go at these graphics this week.

Pedrunn, I'd love to put St Peter's Plaza in, but that ray traced image isn't of the same kind of quality or style than the rest, and would IMO look out-of-place, and not as magnificent as it deserves.

screenshot of city expansions on the way.

Leonidas,
Yup, most people don't, that's the typical self-centrism of our Western culture And that while it's only one of dozens of similar temple cities all over (southern) India, the one even more magnificent than the other...

Ben,
Statue of Zeus, temple of Zeus, that's the same thing really... The statue in the open air wouldn't really make much sense, even though it would look better.

A photograph of the Mausoleum? How about this?

Thanks a ton for (planning to) add Meenakshi...

no problem. It'll lose a lot of detail, but the size and shape should convey the sense of it.
nice photo, but perhaps it would look better as it was.

City Expansion screenie:
Pedrunn, I still think the villages need some houses taken out, so that the scale fits better with the cities, but otherwise, the style fits fine.

City expansion looking great too

I like the first 2, but the modern ones are IMHO a little too... dominant. Do you suppose the big building in the north of each tile could be replaced by something smaller (if others agree)?

I think for pre-Renaissance (MedMod) or pre-Middle Ages (Cradle) Pedrunn's sprite would be nice, for Middle/Renaissance/Industrial Ages BlueO's and for Modern/Information Age the modern ones. For future ages Pedrunn's Genetic age cities would probably look best.

My cities arent looking as good in the in-game as i expect .

I left a blank space so that the player could know wich tile was underneath. But it did not looked a good feature after all. I can fill that clean space. Thats not a problem.

And I got the feeling that they are too small? I dont know if that is because they are besides blueO's ones that are bigger.
Yet they are ok if compared with the small houses in the city sprite.
What you guys think?

PS: I also loved the wonder Hagia Sophia you are using in your Avatar. I even think it is one of the best graphic of the pack.

Pedrunn,
I agree with IW, i think you should have LESS buildings in the tile not more. I really like the look of this expansion, but a less packed tile kinda balances better, like what Locutus was saying about the modern city(BlueO's)tiles. It's just got to represent an expanding city. Has it been decided if the Wonders or the City Expansion will take precedent if there is a clash?

Oh yeah most excellent IW, about St.Pauls grass - i like the grass and trees on all of the other Wonders just fine, it was just the full tile of grass next to the terrain(very squareish!) that looked a little odd, but if it does terrain recognition then that's great. Yes i love the trees and shrubs(bwing me a swubery!)too

I am almost thinking that the best would be forget my ancient city imp and use BlueO's ones. I am kind of disapointed with them. Uless anyone is against this decision. Still i want to compare the genetic cities.

Sorry for not posting for a while, I've had exams and such lately.
Anyway, I've got started on the code and oh my goodness is it some code... I reckon the city expansion code will be upwards of 1000 lines and the wonder code about 300 unless any major bugs rear their heads.
I can sympathise with BlueO's messy code, its a hell of a job scanning a city coverage with the limited SLIC functions.

Anyway, although nothing actually works yet ( ), I've got an 'algorithm' to scan the city radius (a search pattern at least), and its all downhill from here.
If anyone wants to get busy, I can tell you that the wonders should (will have to) come before the city expansions in tileimp.txt.
