What do you think? Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

I posted this poll over in the CTP2 forum a few days ago and was wondering what you guys over here feel would be a good choice.I've not included a bananna cause i'm new to this poll thing and i reason the point of this poll is a straight choice, one or the other. Please feel free to add your reasons. Here's the link(I hope) to the CTP2 poll.click here

EDIT: For those not familular with it CTP2 stands for Call To Power2, its a civ like game that i feel offers good value compared to Civ3 at this point in time.

I own both, if I translate it to British pounds, I paid £25 for Civ3 in store and £10 for CtP2 in ebay 1 year ago. Both are good games, but I clearly prefer Civ3 even with it's current flaws, because out of the box it's the better one without doubt. Right, modded CtP2 is much better than unmodded, but it makes the game run unstable (my experience, yours may differ), prevents serious strategy sharing (there's no "standard", only lots of mods with lots of different versions), and while it takes away some flaws, it also adds new ones.

As to this poll, well, the result is predictable and depends on the forum where it's posted. CtP2 has the advantage, that it's outdated and not so heavy under fire like currently Civ3 is. Meaning, some may vote for CtP2 just to vote against Civ3. Civ3 has the advantage, that it's got a larger community (at least for now).

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Thanks Sir Ralph,

I own only Call To Power2 at present(I got it when it first came out), but of course like all civ fans i'd buy any and all civ-like games(anyone know where i can pick up Imperialism2?). Its just that after being stung by Activision over a year ago(with CTP2), i decided to be more caustious when buying a new game. And for myself i'm glad i decided to hold off on Civ3(I need MP).
I know this poll is going to be a foregone conclusion depending on where it is posted, but i was kinda intrested in how much of a foregone conclusion
I cant believe that it's now looking like the ball has been dropped(and IMHO clear punted into orbit!) two consecutive times by the respective teams(ah....the simple pleasure of a sport metaphor), and with probablly the ONLY game in the world that needs (still) to be done well(would it really have hurt to wait till both games were at least 90% finished???).
I just found when i went to my local HMV that they were selling CTP2 for £5 and i thought that as i now play it alot(with Mods Craddle/Med Mod-sorry to hear you had problems) and it just gets better all the time(a very active Mod Community), if people were feeling a bit ripped off over Civ3(not everyone i know), then they might like to know there is a very cheap alternative.
I guess i might be leaving myself open to the 'CTP2 sucks - Civ3 rules' stuff(or the other way round!), but thats cool......people are entitled to their opinions.I've got mine......er CTP2(Modded)rules!!!!(i can't comment on Civ3 as i haven't played it)
Maybe some other company will see there is a gap at the momment in the 'epic guide mankind thru history in multiplayer turn based gaming' market
Anyone want to set-up a games company.....oh better make that a publisher as well

EDIT: CivIII 15 - CTPII 9 well, not quite as pro Civ3 as i thought it would be(but then not many voted), still maybe some kind of message comes out of this. If Civ3 has alienated alot of the 'civ' fans then what's its long-term future? Let's hope Fireaxis continues to support the game and we all continue to make a positive contribution to that process.

Raion, just out of intrest are you enjoying it as much as CivII when that came out? I really want to get Civ3, and i will as soon as it has the features i want/thought it was going to have. And is it just me or are there as many negative as positive posts in this forum? I hate all the flames and the posts where people haven't taken the time to try to learn the game(same thing happend with CTP2), still some arguments do seem to point to big flaws in the game. This makes me wait. And in the mean time i'm having great games of 'civ' with CTP2 - seems worth £5 bucks?
