	Terror act or not? Got spare money?

There was an explosion at a synagogue in Tunesia with several deaths, including - until now - eight German tourists. Israeli government sources said from the beginning on it was a terror act, now the Tunesian as well as the German gouvernment seem to believe the same.

Question to the Israelis: Why Tunesia? What is known about the links between Palestinian terrorists and North African Islamists?

Well, they've got lots of things in common.

They hate us. as in Israel , and to a lesser extent , "the west".
They're also ruthless animals. I saw a tape of them attacking an army convoy. Barbarians would be offended if I'd call them that way.

Actually, I think it is strange why that happened in Tunisia. The leader (how you call that?) of the synagogue said they have normally good relations to the Tunisian people...I thought, compared to Algeria the country has not as big problems with Islamists - seems I was wrong...

IIRC, after Lebanon got a bit too hot for them, yes. - that was in '83.

The Israelis hit PLO HQ there in '85

Abu Jihad got popped there in '88

Also, a few of the Black September members who quietly faded into the background after they got things too hot for Arafat and the PLO were in Tunisia when the Mossad caught up to them.

So there's been a bit of special love and affection there between the Israelis and Palestinians.

IIRC the PLO took up residence in Leabanon after the Jordanians kicked the PLO out of Jordan. Eventually even Lebanon found the PLO too hot to handle and kicked them out as well. Tunisia agreed to accept them, an offer that was approved by the US because of Tunisia's historically mild mannered stance on most ME conflict issues. It was felt that the Tunisians might be able to exert some degree of control over the Palestinians, so Tunisia became home to a large Palestinian community.

I hate to break this to some of you people, but the Tunisian government has a long history of suppressing its Islamic Fundamentalist gorups. Shows how much you people know about Tunisia.

Yes, but the reason behind those attacks is the war in Judea&Samaria. I dont think white anti-semites will start burning synagogues because Arabs(semites) are dying.
