Mckinney wasn't vindicated. We heard stories immediatlye after the attacks that their had been some limited intel information about possible threats. That is a far cry from knowing what was going to happen and letting it happen. McKinney is an idiot. A disgrace to this fine state.

The Bush line via Ari Fleischer has been there was no foreknowledge at all. It's in all of the papers and on the TV news. McKinney is still a little out there in left field with some of her claims, but she was right about one thing, the Bush administration had been warned about Osama Bin Laden and did nothing. It was well known at the time that he was a man who would murder people. Someone should have taken the threat more seriously. The Bush Administration is now saying that they didn't act on the threat, because it was only a traditional hijacking and no one thought the planes would be used as missles. This statement is weak. A planned hijacking by a known terrorist such as Bin Laden should have been taken very seriously.

There will now be the long overdue investigation into what led up to these attacks and hopefully we will find out who dropped the ball.

I find it interesting that everyone who was so quick to trash her and dismiss her accusations as a wacko's fantasy are very quiet now.

The legitimate reason is that there is now sufficient evidence that warnings may have been at least ignored by somebody. It could very well be that it's a procedural problem, and nobody is at fault per se, but an investigation should be carried out so that better procedures can be created, at the very least. It would also be useful in dissuading the conspicy nuts out there that there is no cover-up.

I do not believe this can damage the President; there are reams of data to go through every day, and it is the job of people under to ensure that the noise gets filtered out, and important information gets to him. I think it's likely that some mid-level official misjudged the value of the data.

Why they didn't stop OBL before the 9/11 ?

Maybe some gouvernment members decided to let OBL strikes to have a potent casus-belli. In this case they didn't foresee the high number of casualties.

But maybe not. They tried to stop the terrorist organization but failed. It isn't an esay job to stop quickly a well planed terror attack.

Now it's clear that the passport found in rubbles, the video tapes found in afghanistan were BS. They had all those informations before.

This is called a tempest in a teapot. Democrats are grasping at straws to try and deflect attention from their boy Clinton and the first trade center bombing and the Oaklahoma city bombing as well as a few others that happened on his watch. Neither Clinton nor Bush are responsible for these surprise attacks. No one can prevent terrorism as Israel is proving now. It is too bad that some seek to use these facts for political gain but that is not going to change.

The funny thing is that an investigation could (but probably wouldnt) allow for a needed reorganization of the intelligence community is the US. Given the paranoia that can infect intel at high levels its a wonder that they get anything right, especially when it requires cross-agency coordination of assets.

Tired of ads?

This is one of the most entertaining threads I have read in a long time.

Now that the shock of 9-11 is over with, both parties are trying to use it to there advantage, which is not surprising.

WFHermans, it seems most of the information you base what you say comes form the internet mostly. Anyone can put anything they want on the internet, they have no editor or fact checkers to see if what they say is true. People put all kind of stuff on the internet that they just make up one day in there head, and make people think that it is fact, and many many people do this. The internet has a lot of inaccurate info and junk on it, so I would suggest that people who provided links to other sites that provide proof to what they are saying first check to see if it is accurate.

I wonder why people are so quick to believe everything they read on the internet. I remember hearing on a spanish news program were they were trying to say that there was a ufo flying around the WTC when the planes crashed into it. Even on mainstream media you have to be carefull with the accuracy of what they report. It is good to relly on many sources of infomation, that way if one the source you use is wrong you will know form the other sources you use.

@ Ming... hey , you forgot it , these things happen ..

Jack: I think it's more than him seeing lots of sites that are well , anti-semitic ( for example , the explanation of the ' ^ ' sign on armor, as actually forming mentally a star of david , and thus making people think that the jews are strong and powerful , and influencing their subconscious. That and the good ol' "jews are vampires that suck blood "routine.) . I think this amounts to more that scepticism on what the mainstream news show, if you know what I mean.

That was $73,000,000.00 The moldy trail started with a shady 1985 Arkansas land deal. The dogged investigators followed the clues all the way to a semen stain on a dress. That is an investigation worthy of the great Sherlock Holmes himself.

What was the name of that story again? Oh yeah, "A Taste of Power in the Oral Office," with a special guest star appearance by Ken Starr as the peeping tom.

The owner had some thing in the car that could have cause a lot of trouble for me just being in the car. So I told myself never again will I put myself in danger of being fired for anything or anyone. It was not drugs.

Lets put ourselves in the shoes of the President for a minute. You receive information that there appears to be a terrorist threat to hijack a plane. What do you do? You don't know any specifics only that they may hijack a plane. I would assume that you pass that information to the FBI or NTSB or the like. Do you really believe they should have made a public statement? They could not and did not know what was in store. If the government tells the people of all threats they receive, we would not be able to function.

I think this is more a breakdown of of numerous government agencies across all party lines. The inept INS letting folks inth the US who have no business being there, the student visas and so forth. The NTSB for allowing people to take flying lessons that do not involve take-off and landings, The CIA for not having people in place to learn and pass important info along. Some knucklehead from Marin California can join the Taliban but they can't get an agent or two in there? Then you have the pathetic airline security folks. Come on poorly trained and poorly paid workers not skilled to properly protect the public. Then there is the FBI. They had one of the hijackers in their possession for prior crimes, they had an eye witness James Woods who saw the hijackers during one of their "dry runs" and he reported what he saw to the FBI.

This is not about GWB, Bill Clinton, liberals or conservatives. Its about large, inept government bureaucracies that need to be fixed.

You mean the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) is for accident investigation only.
You are correct about GWB, I hate to say it Clinton and others. The two FBI memo never went to the President, NSA, or any other top division and never to the CIA. Part of the CIA problem goes back to the Carter admin. when he and Sen Frank Church did away with most of our field operators and then pass laws so the CIA could not hire undesirable (bad people) to work for us.

"I don't even have a foul weather Jacket."

I had one from the Charr that I used as a blanket for years. I must have finally worn it out after about 20 years. I forgot what happened to it. I guess it was kind of like a blankie to me.
