Well, the Unix Era begins at 00:00:01 January 1st, 1970, so that's what a lot of servers default to for time - even Windows ones. I took it for granted that was it.
And I think you longtimer guys deserve it - as a recognition for long and ardent duty, eh?

Damn you, I got diet coke all over my monitor thanks to joke about the good old days. Of course I do remember my early Usenet days 1980 when you would actually wait days for a reply to a post.

I once read Steven Levy good book called Hackers in which Hacking start in MIT in the late 1950's at the Tech Model Railroad Club where the first computer hacker appear. Also they make the first computer game.
