On a somewhat serious note, pornography (in addition to lots of other factors) helped me out when I first realized I was gay. Thinking that you're alone in being gay is very stressful. Knowing that millions of guys are looking at the same pictures makes you feel slighly less freakish and abnormal.

The down side is I'm a near total hedonist when it comes to sex now. But I think a lot of that was in place long before I discovered porn.

That is very arbitrary. It depends on what the kid wants, what stage he develops at. If the child was not sexually interested, he would not have the slightest interest in pornography. It is a self-governing thing. If the kid wants porn to aid his masturbation, so be it.

If the kids are preteens then there really aren't much in the way of "hormones" raging and there shouldn't be "tensions" to release. Few kids are going to be able to reach a real "release" until they're at least 13, so what would be the point of allowing them to view porno? It would be like throwing gasoline on the meagerest of barely lit tapers. Instead of exposing them to trashy porno, which is so often ridiculously unrealistic, sadistic or exploitive, I think I'll use my fairly good relationship with my son and talk to him about his feelings and the changes within him.
