I reckon that is at least 8 parts talent. Sure, training and hard work are important too, but they don't help much without talent.

Extacly! I'm a Soprano with a 3 1/2 octive range but trying to make a living off of singing without teaching......well it's hard. I sing with some local musicans here in town every once and a while and have just recently gotten into the Austin Musical Theater but past that it's really hard to make ends meet on a Vocal Performance major. So I went to Bussiness School after that.

Evan at top schools (HBS, etc.), the MBA tends to be a pretty fluffy degree. Part of the issue being that (for some people) MBA school is basically number crunching for liberal arts weenies.

I don't want to be too crude here. Of course there are people at MBA school who have great quant backgrounds. There are alos lots of useful things that one can do without a quant background. And there are liberal arts students that can handle quant fine. But...for an example...the most hard core derivatives class at Kellogg is taught without calculus. This boggles the mind....

Yeah. The good news for me is that, the lower down the voice registers you go, the more in demand you are. Superb sopranos are a dime a dozen, so it's cutthtoat for them. As a baritone, I can generally have an easier time getting singing gigs, as there just aren't as many of us.

And true basses are so in demand it's amazing...but those are the rarest voice of all!

Try telling that to the geology 'geeks'. About half of them (when I was in school) spent time in the military first. Fun group of guys.

Maybe, if they are decent enough .

Though it is amusing that ROTC people tend to go through geology... since they basically get trained on what they want to do in the military.. geology is just something to take until they actually get the real training .

It might be worth something if donored to the right place.. or person. Herr Juhnke might still profit from it.
