George "never met a sterotype he didn't like" Lucas. No, we couldn't hope that he'd learned his lesson from the lambasting he got in Phantom Menace. He had to go and up it, just to make sure we got it. Annikin and Shmi's former owner (I forget his name), could they have made him look anymore like a stereotypical Jew!?! It was bad enough in the first movie, but this time they added a beard and a hat to make him look like a Hassidic Jew.

Is Jar Jar a gay, black guy? Are all the lions in that Disney movie (can't remember name) black? And why didn't they have a human play Jar Jar. I think that would have been more realisitic than doing computer graphics. You get more a sense of texture with a costume. CG still looks fake...

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I wouldn't be particularly surprised if some of the characters are stereotypical. Lucas isn't subtle.

I hate this over-used whining from people whose favorite catch-phrase is "PC over-sensitivity."

It's called a sense of decency and respect for differences among the people of the world and knowing what jokes are appropriate, and when.

The power of negative stereotypes is not to be underestimated. It has been used as propgaganda to justify American slavery of blacks, by the Nazis to justify the "Final Solution." It has also been used to justify keeping women unemployed and helplessly dependent on men.

There are a lot of ignorant, shallow people who see movies, along with the educated, intelligent people. Those ignorant people are the ones who accept the stereotypes.

Some of my friends at Uni have parents kind of like that...but then again the school is over a third Jewish, so it's probably a fluke...
