	Deity the greatest sneak attacker in the world! Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

No player in the world are so unreiable as peace partner as Deity... This thread is dedicated to all those players that have experienced it.

In last session Deity sneak attacked me, in the usual way, in the US thursday night DIPLO game, without warning.
I asked him why. I got the answer that I had a peace treaty with Markus, and he said it in a way so I understand he excepted me to declare war on him.

For those that not know the rules in the game I want to tell that it's forbidden to ask somebody else to declare war on another player.

Why do you violate the rules Deity?

The game is a DIPLO. That means you should negotiate with other players in the game and NOT start war WITHOUT VALID reason!

Funny at the start of the game diety tried to lecture me about how i am not allowed to declare war on others for no reason and how its against the spirit of the game and not diplo bla bla bla .

For diety rules/conevtions only exist as long as they are convient for him. But i had expected he would attack winzity and even told him to prepare.

Not that it matters, hes going to get what he deserves this game

Let's get this straight, I violated NO rules. I revolted and didn't ask any one to get me to declare war on Winz. You know that.

Markus had already attacked me at sea without any negotiations and didn't even declare war.

Winz is Markus super trade secret ally so if any of the other players in the game have any chance then someone had to do something to change the strategic balance.

Can you please withdraw your accusations?

I'm not impressed.

But in game terms it's sheer fun! I love it

I made a few mistakes because I was distracted at home but no excuses.

I achieved my goal and used up my old army of horses etc to level two of Winz cities and seriously damage others. Hopefully this screws up Markus trade routes LOL

Not that I have any reason to pick on Deity, buuuut.....

Anyone care to remember History Of The World 2? When Deity took over all of Drake's South America in a turn (or did it take you two?) Another grand diplo surprize attack. Started a downward spiral of warfare in that game.

Its an old map, but he didn't build more cities.

hes got 14 cities and 15 units, half of those 15 units are naval units ahahaha. (transports and subs)

You have to look pretty hard to see a flag flying, Deitycity is his capitol. Me and winzity are going to raze his civ to the ground, basically i empty his cities and winzity will take them. he needs dieties tech not me

And winzity does have another landmass with a lot of cities on it so he is far from dead.

Deityland = new spain

See the destroyer in the first picture? Thats 5 squares over from dietygodfather.and 2 squares from land.

Diety started the war i am just ending it.

Did i mention i have battleships, and deity doesn't even have destroyers? I can escort whatever i want over to his landmass.

Hmm..I seem to remember that one Ozzy.

I remember 4000 years of peace and harmony being shattered by Deity brutally raping the defenseless Zulu people that he claimed were plotting to destory him I had one or two inferior defenders in my cities and he blitzkrieged me with howitzers and cruise missiles. He even picked off my poor partisans after he molested all of my citizens.

That Deity is a sneaky player......he best watch his back if he ever plays with me again

good show D! diplo games should have earlier war, therefore not necesarily making it a world war with modern weapons...

history is filled with war, all kinds of war, and ancient times were far more uncivilised

Plus diety is in trouble.. I am posting my income per turn, i would like to see Diety post his if he isn't to scared? I now mine is at least 5-6 times his.

You violated TWO rules:

1) You started a war on me without any contact with me at all!
In a DIPLO game you have to negotiate with other players
and you MUST have a valid reason to declare war.

2) After you attacked me, I asked you why you attacked me.
You said it was because I have a peace treaty with Markus.
There are two possibilities here:

1: I could understand in advance that you should attack
if I not fulfilled your demand to declare war on Markus.
If I had understand that, should I have declared war
on Markus? NO because you are not allowed to ask
another player to declare war on a player, and it was not
better because you made it indirectly by preparing
a military attack on me.

2: I don't know that you should attack in advance.
Sneak attacks have no place in a diplo game there war
should have a valid reason.

Your argument that Markus send caravans to me should be
a valid reason to attack me because I not attacked him is
equally weird as it sounds. Both Markus and I had Democracy
and we could not make sneak attacks, so I could not
stopping his caravans. If i should revolt each time a caravan
arrived I should be in anarchy the whole game so it was not
an option. And I decide self which strategy I should use, not
you Deity!

You was in war with Markus already. If you are at war or in peace is formally defined by the foreign advisor.

Maybe but you should follow the rules of the game. Your term ally is not really right used. Nobody of us could stop incoming caravans, see above please.

I don't think so. We don't assign trade routes in same way as the AI.

Just a quick response now.. more later.

Firstly Markus started the war by attacking two of my Ironclad in the previous weeks session.
All game he's been targeting the DEITIANS, in that secret alliance with Zylka etc.
So, without any negotiations he chooses to kill my sea units before trying to make contact somehow. This makes his intentions very clear don't you think?
It's been clear all game.

So, I develop a strategy to help level the playing field for all players (except you) in this no alliance no tech trade game where Markus is clearly ahead in techs and GNP.

And you are a total hypocrit as in the other Diplo you as a friend who was allowed to disembark troops on my land just SNEAK ATTACKED and ravaged many DEITIAN citizens...

BTW, I don't seem to popular around here... I'm just playing the game, win or lose - FUN!! LOL

You can't start a war without formal contact, perhaps you'd better go read the rule books... I just sunk those units because i had a pretty good idea you would try to use them to attack spatana. So technically we aren't at war, just as taking an empty city isn't a declaration of war when you have no treaty.


Also how can i plan anything with the japaneese if i don't even have contact, not only that they don't even have anything!

Your pathetic and trying to grab at excuses to justify your war mongering. Also as if i was planing on attacking you, i had a 16 tech lead or so, why risk losing the lead?

Markus started the war in the previous session sinking those Ironclads. I didn't attack Markus, I attacked Winzity but have subsequently admitted that my objective was to disrupt Markus trade routes.

I think it's a bit of an alliance between Winz and Markus who are militarily synchronising their efforts against one player. This is really more of a rule breaker in this no alliance game than anything I've done.

Also, how come you guys glean so much info about my military position, unit types etc? I'm not accussing you guys of cheating but you guys accussed me of breaking diplo rules etc.......

I wish some of the others players in the game would post here! Come on Berz and J23SE and Dangime - why so quiet? Markus and Winz will not stop if they manage to get past me. If they do stop Markus will just build a Spaceship.

My tactics have reduced Markus max GNP per turn from his posted 1730AD rate to around 2000g, he said on icq to me. It is now 1756AD and Markus and my GNP are very close now...

I've also completely slowed down Markus tech rate and forced him into war mode earlier than his planned nuke attack. And of course his city builds are on hold.

All other plyers in the game can benefit from this.

Why is Markus so p1ssed off? So vengeafull?

Because I worked out a strat that atacked the basis of his super trade strat. Take note everyone. He'll think twice about who he trades with from now on.. LOL

Exactly! In a diplo game you made NO effort to formally contact me; you just sunk two clads on SENTRY duty. They were there in case you sent over transports - early warning system. You can't argue "technically". You made a false assumption about another civs intentions and didn't talk.

Read the first half of the story thread where you and Zylka, as the Japanese then, were posting about my imminent demise at Zylkas hands in the BC era.... with your moral support and blessing!

In a diplo game you were supporting the attack, by one civ you hadn't made contact with, against another civ that you also hadn't even made contact with. Go figure.

Id have to say I agree with Diety, if i had a boat of mine attacked, although this doesnt officially declare war, i dont care if its dead or not. Unless that other player, messages me and tells me it was an accident, Im going to war with him. And Winzity, if you were some one elses little slave puppet for trade, of course id be going for the weaker of the 2 too stop what i saw as a threat. Deity in my opinion you did well, but markus seems to be doing better. You made correct choices i think. just Not following all the way through with it, although im sure it just happens. Markus is a damn good player.
