dutchy:
AA improves their chances to get blue collar jobs? Cause I know it only helps the black middle class get into college cause they can afford it in the first place. And what about poor whites?
And your picture is offensive to me. The drawing of the woman is contorted oddly and wearing far too revealing clothes.
thanks

So what you're saying is that AA is okay. And since AA is racial preference, racial discrimination is okay?

Hueji: Would you favor AA for minorities in Holland?
And Speer, poor people can go to college, and many do. Financial aid, students loans, scholarships, money from the military, jobs, etc. Of course, poor people don't have the same opportunites to do well and typically do worse on the SAT, and AA helps the black poor overcome their economic disadvantages. Unfortunately, it does not help the poor whites, which is why it would be better to base AA on socioeconomics rather than race.
Also, Speer, would you mind saying again why you still want to have Albert Speer be your username?

Imran, DinoDoc,
You guys missed the essential point, which is also the reason for Shi's question. "Djugashvili" was relatively harmless in the sense that he didn't spout off the crap connected with the original person, and on at least one occasion distanced himself from everything Stalin stood for. "Albert Speer" wants people to teach him German, states he listens to Wagner and other things which aren't Nazi by definition but could be classified as heavy flirting.
Rationally speaking Imran, yes you might have a point beneath your crusade to aid the teenage quasi-nazi, but why won't you just accept the fact that some people might have a problem here? We're talking emotions, not mathematics in terms of "who-was-the-most-evil-dictator". As for you, DinoDoc, your suggestion "He considers them to be lesser races and not worth consideration", even if it's meant as a joke, says a lot more about you than anybody else around.

And this is what ticks me off. Schools, like the University of Michigan which had AA upheld, are trumpeting how "diverse" they are. But, regardless of whether you're black, brown, purple, or paisley, it's still the people with lots of money who make up the bulk of the student body.
But the university points to the 2 or 3% of black students from Detroit and says "see how we're upholding diversity, see how democratic we are." What a joke, and an insult to minorities. Put your money where your mouth is. Instead of spending millions in legal costs on withholding some inane concept which will probably lose in SCUSA anyway, build a charter school or institute massive outreach programs to tap into the talents off all disadvantaged folks,
regardless of skin color.

Holy blue ****, I can't believe the endless lies people believe about AA.
1) There are NO quotas. NONE. Quotas are ILLEGAL.
2) I can't speak for every institution, but poor whites get EXACTLY the same amount of AA as poor blacks do at the University of Michigan. Poor whites are not being left behind by affirmative action at UM. Period. That's just a bald-faced lie told to appeal to some of the darker corners of otherwise rational minds.
And, finally, to the punk who started this thread, will you please, for the love of common human decency, change your goddamned handle.

If people would read some of what Albert Speer wrote in prison they might have an ounce of compassion for the man. At least he saw the error of his ways like many Germans did after the war and the delusion of Nazism. Of course repentance is not widely valued now days so I can understand the reaction to the use of Albert Speer's name but at least he admitted to doing wrong and I respect him for that. And I am a hard core supporter of Israel. When I see his name used as a handle I think of the human being behind it, not the insanity of Nazism. Of course if the handle was Adolf Hitler then I could understand the absolute scorn.

I don't know why he chose the handle. He will have to answer for himself. But the fact that Speer didn't repent until after the war places him in the same catagory of most Germans living at that time. It was a huge delusion and people need to go on.
