Public Opinion Poll (Unofficial) Support Apolyton

Hi, as a leader of the UFC I would just like to take a friendly poll to assess the approval rating of the decisions of one of our fine ministers.

NO, this is not a smear campaign ... after the unfortunate discovery of some beautiful fertile land merely a turn after the building of a city in the middle of the jungle, we are simply endeavoring to discern the people's feelings on what they think about the IE Minister's decision not to wait, but build a city right then and there in the disease-ridden jungle.

So please vote honostly, but only once. Thank you.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

yeah.. i agree with it.

You must not forget exactly how many people thought it would be a long time before we get out of the jungle.

And like you yourself noted (to my researching ease), he founded it before we found the goody hut, and before we found grassland. Bar playing-ahead, he had no way of knowing there was any end to the jungle in sight.

He made the right decision (considering the choices when he built the city)

I support it. In the long run, it won't matter that much, and he's not at fault. NO ONE said "oh let's wait, we may find some good terrain over there, so just let him sit where he is and do nothing".

I agree. This is a case of 20-20 hindsight. He made the best decision he could with the knowledge he had. Lay off the guy.

Suffering from ads?

that was because people wanted to make it 2 workers. the choices were to plant the city down or to make it workers. i chose the former.

and right before that statement:

Increase Your PM Length

You said plop it near a river, the only river that we could see was surrouned by jungle. So you wanted it ploped in a jungle.

I have talked to you before on this in chats, and you said you supported my decision. But I guess this is a case politics getting the best of you, so I will not hold it against you

Doing what I did here was really choosing the lesser of two evils.

An early settler like that loses its advantage every turn it wanders, and these guys are not supposed to be explorer units. You gotta drop it as soon as you can. Once I saw that river, alongside a coast, with a mountain nereby that may be our only hope at finding Iron.....I gambled it would be our best bet for awhile. Besides, even looking back, I am not sure 9 turns of walking east to form a city in hostile land would have been a good idea.

I did what I thought was best, and I know most of you understand that. I wouldn't criticize anyone if they were caught in that dilemma.

Got spare money?

The Settler had been wandering way long enough.

The IE made a decision based on known facts. It was not unreasonable to believe the jungle was bigger.

Why does it matter whether or not we agree/disagree with his decision? We can't change it.

Why was this poll started? What was the intended outcome/result for the poll? By this, I mean whichever vote wins, what was to be done with the results?

I originally joined the game to have fun. This is turning into a bunch of funless polls, among other funless things.

I had hoped it would be a good Civ game, because it can be. But, will it be?

I am not placing blame, but can we get along? Only if you want it. Do you want to? I hope so. Otherwise, you will lose a lot of people's interests.

Who is this you I refer to? Anybody that is making the game less than fun.

You had a productive city site NW of Apolyton and ignored it. It may overlap a bit and take 2-3 tiles away from Aoplyton, but that is not a crime if the terrain is bad. Apolyton is on the tip of a peninsula and can't remain the capital anyway, or we would cripple the empire's production, because we can't use fully the benefit of lower corruption in cities near the capital.

Your deputy is starting his (illegitimate?) effort with proposing 2 more jungle sites and one that is at least 50% corrupt. If this Empire gets one more city like this Thebes, it is doomed and this game almost certainly lost.

Let's pull together as a nation; not disintegrate into petty bickering.

My point in playing a game is to have fun. Winning is good, too. But, not necessary. We haven't lost yet. Pull together and you may be amazed at what Could happen.

Also, let's not dwell on what we might have done. It wasn't done, so it doesn't factor into the future of the game. It may factor into the next elections, but it can't change what we have done.

Focus on what we can do to better our position.

I am inclined agree; we are dividing ourselves because of this, as many people have said, petty bickering.

This is supposed to be fun, not about trying to politically assasinate your opponent and sieze control of the government.

Instead of analyzing the situation and attempting to move forward, we sit here. We sit here, and argue, and argue and continue to try and slur our opponents (Whoever isn't in our political party) at any given chance.

Why must we do this? Why do we even bother to take the time to do this? It's not fun, your not being forced to do it, and I cannot see any logical reason to do so.

I mean, it's everywhere. At all times, there is at least one person out to make someone else look incompetent, even when it may have been a simple mistake, miscommunication, or lack of information. And when the person tries to apologize for the mistake, it continues on even more! It continues even when the objective has been achieved!

In my section of the Apolytonian, I have pleaded with the people to end this internal war. At first I thought that I was not being heard, and indeed that may have been true. However, it appears as if more people are beginning to notice a tumor growing within our empire, and if we do not sieze control of it immedietly it will kill us.

Ever found a city on the other side of the map, only to find its generating 15 shields, 14 being lost to corruption? That's kind of how I feel right now.

Tassadar

You can only wait so long before doing something. The IE waited as long as he should have before deducing that the end of the jungle was far off. It wasn't, but moving that Settler over to the more productive grassland would have taken too many turns, and might have even put it near Paris, and might be taken via culture. The IE used hus forsight as best as anyone could have, given the information we had.

Let's stop worrying and griping about what was done, and deal with what is going on in the future. Since we can't change the past, let's deal with the present and future. Let's shape the future and present as united nation.
