yes attacks on american targets are silly.
(they are not many, they are done by so called anarchists in 17 November (the date) and they target Procter & Gamble that sort of thing - never americans, never lives)
I actually think they are very silly and I'm angry at those so called anarchists.
17 N. celebration is about marching in peace towards the american embassy and they have degraded it into mindless destruction. (some say that the state is involved with agent provocataire so as to discredit the march but i dont believe it that much).
OTOH Cyprus remained divided with the blessing of the americans and the the intrnational community and untill the CIA files open (and prove it) we have every right to stick to facts that uphold american involvement there.
The rule of the law is valid for kuwait and not for cyprus?
then there is no rule of law.
also as long as USA is giving leverage to turkey's warmongering in the aegean there will be tentions.
as far as commies and fascists go, of course the junta was much a result of the latter but there is proof (and CIA files are again closed on this matter despite the fact that the relapsement time for their puiblic scrutiny has passed) of US involvement in the dictators snatching the power.
As long as this goes on and as long as all those responsible are not brought to justice (including kissinger) their will be some minor discontempt.
for all the reasons i mentioned there will be anti-americanism in Greece untill one of these situations change.

and for every little thing, 17N (the group) will continue to try to capitalize off of peoples' discontent. (like in the yugoslavia bombings) untill it is caught, IMO.
But it boils down to this:
_we have parliementary representative democracy and that's what people want
_if foreign agents are not interfering in Greece (and that is not certain after the capture of two CIA ops couple of years ago hunting for 17N in Greek soil)
_the people do not want a communist society (this is more than evident)
_ social welfare can be protected by other means and should be protected by other means
then 17N is reduntant.
also if # 2 is not true, it still is reduntant because it is the job of the counter espionage teams and the democratically elected government to deal with any of this.

Link doesnt seem to work here's the title of the book and a small description.
Europe’s Last Red Terrorists: The Revolutionary Organization 17 November, 1975–2000 by George Kassimeris
This article examines the nature and effects of political terrorism by focusing on the ideology and activities of Europe's last Marxist-Leninist terrorists – the Greek Revolutionary Organization 17 November, which since 1975 has waged a systematic campaign of violence against US and NATO personnel, Turkish diplomats and members of the Greek political and business elite. Tracing the history of 17N from 1975 to 2000, the article shows that throughout its long campaign the group has maintained an extremely one-dimensional view of a world peopled by heroes and villains. Combining fanatical nationalism, contempt for the existing order and a cult of violence for its own sake, 17N has stubbornly refused to accept that its eclectic belief system is incompatible with modern democratic principles.

Absolutely false.
Better run and find that Times article or some statement by woosley or what's his name
You have absolutely no facts for what you say except the fact that they are not caught.
17 November is 10 times what Red Brigades were.
And I wouldn't talk about efficiency in antiterrorism if i was an american... (you have quite a bleak record of victims.)

True, you're right.
I would not add anything else on the matter if you were not American but you seem to forget that you are simply worse on both, which make your posting truly amusing and laughable...

Not propable. But it is deemed to be indeed very small and tight. Up to 20 people.
Gp, can you rephrase your question? "cause I understood nothing except your disaproval.

But I don't believe we can achieve socialism via parliamentary means. I just think that elections and the government are an arena of struggle. We can use them to advance our cause. Ultimately, however, the capitalists will be forced to abolish them because of our successes and we will be forced into violent revolution to restore democracy or a civil war to protect the electoral victory we have made (which amounts to the same thing). |
17N believes you are diluding yourself if you believe that. Moreso you are doing a disservice (actually betrayal) to the working class since you "absorb" their revolutionary consciousness into a parliamentary hoax that in fact reduces the propability of a popular revolutionary uprisal taking place.
Also they said to the extra parlieamentary left that they expected them to accuse 17N of atomic terrorism which is simply not the case but a wilful distortion of their acions.
*who exactly do we terrorize?" they said.
(since the greek people are not)
