I went to the dycke march activities in SF and it was a real nice time. Spending all afternoon in Dolores park and then skipping the parade is definitely the way to go. It took at least twenty minutes for all the marchers to pass by the party I was at.

As for the politics: At the park there were a lot of anti-imperialism messages from the performers and organizers, and they seemed to get a good response out of the assembled people. In the march, there were a few pro-Palestinian banners and some anti-American-Imperialism ones, but in retrospect they were few and far between, probably cause it gets tiresome to carry them for a couple of miles.

It comes across as a very liberal crowd, but its a self-selection bias, and I think a lot of more conservative gays just stay home or stay quiet.

Faded Glory, remember J Edgar Hoover. Gays cannot only be conservative, they can be downright reactionary. Head of the S.A. (the Stormtroopers) was gay. Just cuz you are physcially attracted to someone of the same gender doesn't mean you necessarily are imbued with a sense of humanity.
