I'm sure you're aware of the reasons for the electoral college. Basically, it prevents the coasts from deciding U.S. policy, protects the voice of the smaller states, etc. If not for the college, presidential candidates wouldn't campaign anywhere other than California, New York, Texas, Florida, and a handful of other states. |
Guess what-democracy = will of people(even though the U.S. is a represantive republic and not a democracy......you know what I mean) that means the MAJORITY decides......should some pissant state with a population of ~ 4 million(South Dekota) have even 1/3rd as much say as a state with a population of over 24 million(New York, my home state) of course not.........yet it does. Representation should be directly proportional to population, but it is not-thus the elections are not democratric(just another reason), or fair.

My twisted reality? If the now president's brother had a way to ensure his brother won the election, that method was covert, gauranteed AND he wouldnt be caught doing it, do you think he would not hesitate to do it? Do you think ANY politician in Jeb's position wouldnt?
(Not to say politicans are corrupt, but deciding the presidential election without being caught doing so, which member of high office wouldnt do it?)

He won it legally over the table, but illegally under the table......you honestly think his brother didnt influence that supreme court decision(though obviously not publicly)?
Its not a democracy because the minority can, and often do decide who becomes president, and more so because the people did not decide who is president......the Bush's decided who was president and im my eyes George W. Bush is a dictator who took power illegally. |
Take a class in constitutional law. The executive branch has no effect upon the judicial branch other than appointing judges! The court that ultimately decided the election was the SCOTUS, at that point under a Democratic administration. Are you saying that particular decision would NOT have been affected by the country's president, and Al Gore's pal Bill Clinton?

I dont have a minority viewpoint, most people dont know about the issue(low voter turn out) or care about it enough to form an opinion(general uncaring about their goverment).

Jeb bush the the Florida supreme court meet for lunch.
The following conversation ensues 25 minutes into the meal, and after many beers:
Supreme court Justice #9: So I said to him, I'll declare that a mis-trial when abortion is illegal!
Justices's 1-8 + Jeb: Hahahahaha
Jeb: Hey guys, you got a big decision tommorow about the election tommorow, so what do you think?
Justice 4: Well we arent sure, were proboally gonna side with Gore, after all he DID have the majority vote.....
Jeb: Why dont you do your boss a favor, that and if you want to keep your jobs(he can always increase the number of judges, thus making them moot, through channel have them fired, etc....yes much of it isnt above the table), side with my brother Dubya?
Justices: Hmmm.....okay why not- your the boss!!!
I said it wasent over the table, and of course it would not be but George's brother was in a position to influence the election(though not legally) and im sure he took it.
Your going to tell me theres no corruption in goverment, and the constituion is always upheld lol?
People of high office often influence the Judicial system to get their way....for example Harry Truman added multiple more judges so he could get his new deal legislation through........added more judges with his political view, dilating the national supreme court, so his side would prevail.

Oh so it's not that people don't agree with you, it's that they don't know they agree with you? So you assume that people are ignorant. . . if people are ignorant of the "fact" that they are ruled by a dictatorship, why do you trust them enough to let them vote? |
No, I carefully choose what I said, I was GOING to say that but realised it was incorrect. Its not that most peopel are ignorant on matters of goverment(they are but thats besides the point), its that they dont CARE enough about matters of goverment to form an opinion on whether he stole the election or not......im sure many more people dont care if he won or lost(seing as only ~40% of eligible americans voted last election) then people who care. 60 % of americans dont give a rats ass if he won or just by the mere virtue that they didnt vote-therefore the majority view is "I dont care", its not "Hes legitimate" or "hes legitimate".

Whats a horrible annalogy lol....theres a difference between being happy, and indifferent......most people are indifferent.
The majority of the people DONT KNOW ABOUT THE EXISTANCE OF THE SUPPOSED PROBLEM so they have no opinion on it, they dont know the question exists so they dont answer it.

I don't get what you're saying here though. The recount was all over the place, everybody knows what happened during the elections, people just don't care. The reason people don't care is because they are okay with how it turned out. So there is no problem.
Bush and Gore weren't different enough to fight over. You'd have a tough time figuring out where they differed on issues, and an even harder time convincing anybody that they wouldn't immediately give up on their "principles" if it seemed like the politically expedient thing to do. |
You have no proof over peoples intentions, or how they feel.......people dont care because we live in an entertaiment culture, and if its isnt entertaining no one cares......People arent complaining because A. theres nothing they can do about it and B. they dont care.
The supreme court decision was NOT about who won the re-count.....the eventual decision was BANNING the re-count AFTER it was shown that Gore won when all the votes were counted(BTW: for months after it was shown that many minorities groups ballots were thrown out or destroyed by the voting officials at local sites-this isnt a conspiracy of course, just the act of some racist southern white trash).
Bush and Gore were very different on lots of important issues, abortion, the ENVIROMENT(why I VERY strongly support Gore), foreign policy etc....just to name a few.
BTW from your previous post, why do you think a bi-partisant system is the best way to go?(I personally dislike political parties.......).
