For those Roman players like me out there, I translated as much as I can from the Civ3 editor. I can safely say 90%, with the exception being the units ( ), is translated.
No rules have been changed, and no map created. It is absolutely Civ3 1.21f, except for the Latin. Some Wonders I couldn't translate, only because I just couldn't find anything that would work. I'm working on it though. Some things such as Saltpeter, I had to change to "gun powder", which is basicly the same thing.
I need to work out the proper ending on some of the words, I'm also working on that.
Please read the ReadMe file in the zip for info on how to contact me with e-mail, or just post below.
EDIT: Sorry I screwed up. The new download is below.

ps- i have a tattoo of spqr. im that deliriously in love with the ancient culture... |
Yes, although I'm a builder type player, and would be better off the playing as the Babs, I play as Rome only because they are Rome, and I really like the UU. I head straight for Ferrum and then for Respublica. I'm not big on starting a war that early in the game, so I basicly play defensively. If I have to, I will fight for that Ferrum in the enemy territory.
If you want further information, I suggest talking to some of the big boys of stragety on this forums, such as Vel, I'm shure he has a few pointers.
ROMA VICTOR!

This is from dictionary.com
[Middle English salpetre, from Old French, from Medieval Latin slpetrae : Latin sl, salt; see sal- in Indo-European Roots + Latin petrae, genitive of petra, rock (from Greek petr. See per-2 in Indo-European Roots).]
http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=saltpeter
and from www.m-w.com:
Etymology: Middle English salt petre, alteration of salpetre, from Middle French, from Medieval Latin sal petrae, literally, salt of the rock
That help any?

hey thrawn, do you play rome no matter what? and how much are you "in to" them? i was thinking of making a mod so comprehensive that it would make rome the best civ to play.
not making them the only one that could win, but making the game "Rome-oriented". Im not quite sure how to explain this, but if you are at all interested, please respond. I was thiking something along the lines of more Roman unique units, completely redone tech tree, different wonders/improvements, etc. I mean, I NEVER play anyone but the romans, so I might as well make the game into "Roman Civilization." Thats what I was thinking of calling the mod.
Alright, well, if youre interested, write........
BTW, are you really from VC? I was also thinking it would be cool to start a Roman Civ3 clan. But im not sure about it yet, but you seem Roman enough to be down with it.

yes I always play as Rome (as a confession, the Babs once). I took a european map and trying right now to basicly copy my geographic explorer's Roman Empire map I have into Civ3, basicly a single civ game. Just protect the boarders and such from barbarians. I have to find who made the map for permission to release it and to further it.
No, I don't live in VC, I'm in the US, but since I'm all for the Roman Empire and Catholic... what the hell. I was going to do Irish (Since I'm Irish), but they didn't have one that DIDN'T have the orange in it .

haha, like one with just the green field and then the gold harp? yeah, screw those protestant traitors. actually, im not catholic personally, but if i WAS to pick something, and being as i love rome and all....well, anyway....im still working on that mod, so if youre interested...and what map is that exactly? can you get it off national geographics website? |
I'm botched the my map to hell, so you're our only hope. The map I used came from a NG magazine I got a few years ago, I'm not sure if you can get it off of their website.
The map is called:
Great Peoples Of The Past: The Romans
It was printed in July of 1997
The large map on the one site shows Rome at it's hight during the years 69 - 138 AD, when Rome aquired Dracia and much of the Black Sea as well as reaching the Persian Gulf. It shows you the roads, cities, and resources from each area.
It also has smaller maps of each of the different periods of Roman history.
Hope this was of some help.
As for me, and the fact that several of my other mods in limbo do to my lack of artisic abilitys/software and the limitations with the Civ3 engine, there is not much I can do expect place cities and units and playtest. If you need those two, give me a buzz.
