Writing from California, not far outside of LA. First leg of the trip is complete! Down the length of California, we've stopped at Wenchy's mom's house, so I had one last chance to sneak onto the 'puter before we begin the most arduous portion of the trip!
Hmmm...an interesting problem re: the flc files and the foot units. One possible short term solution (this won't give you all the unit specific graphic, but should at least get you started) would be as follows:
For the files that seem to be missing stuff (Hevy Infantry, Footman, etc), here's what I'd recommend:
1) Delete whatever IS in those folders, so that what you're left with is an empty folder bearing the unit's name.
2) Pick a unit that might be sortakinna appropriate to the unit you're getting substitute graphics for...Impi, Legionary, etc., and go to THAT unit's directory, highlight all files, right click, and "copy."
3) Back to the shell folder for the CB unit. Right click and "paste"
4) You'll notice a text file in the list, bearing the name of the "old" unit (the unit from whom we are copying). Simply rename that text file to the name *exactly as it appears* on the unit folder (case sensitive), and you're all set!
Happy Hunting!
PS: Some changes I have made so far, but have not officially implemented:
* In the editor, strongly recommend changing the Nilrogg to 1 move and NOT all terrain as roads....will do that officially when I get back, but it increases the survivability of the AI refugees.
* Tone the agression levels for the three "neutral" AI's down to minimum (they were kicking all the main factions' tailfeathers....another change I'll be making when I return).
* Give each AI factcion (including neutrals) another three refugees each....this is to help compensate for losses prior to them building cities....I've been noticing that sometimes, the AI really gets whacked hard before they get their cities founded. On more than one occassion, I've seen some factions only start with one or two cities....

Well, if the CB Mod is anywhere near as good as the Alamo MT, it'll be great.
Seriously, though, Candle'Bre is pretty neat. I've been lurking and reading around here for a while. Good concepts, nice story, sound rules. I like it. If I saw a game on a store shelf the way I've seen CB described, I'd buy it and start playing right away.

Indeed And thanks for the nod of approval!
Just finished sketching out the map last night, and placing the cities.
Unlike our version of CB, there are slightly more than sixty cities in the kingdom....this was done on account of some very large provinces that the maximum borders in civ simply would not contain....so, in some cases, we've got stuff like "Northern Trentare," "Central Trentare," and "Southern Trentare" and a few others like that, in order to flesh out the map and (eventually, with sufficient cultural border bumps) enclose the vast majority of Candle'Bre itself...there still are some odd patches that fall outside any city's borders...mostly in the pockets, and up near the mountains, and this was intentional.
This go 'round, I'll probably just stick with using game standard units (don't even know if I'll rename them), to make the mod less intrusive and easier to install.
If that works, I may do a later release that has art and such...don't know yet....with the activity on an upsurge again, my time on this project may be limited....but that's cool too....

Sadly, though I now have a copy of the game (along with WC3), I have not even installed it yet. At the moment, there are just too many projects that are demanding time and attention, and I'm afraid that when I install either of my new games, I'll like 'em too much, and get sucked in for a period of several days, if not several weeks, which would totally kill my creative output for CB and getting my next novel all geared up for publication.
Still....I'm hoping that over the next couple weeks, I'll be in a place where I'm "in between" a few things, and will play my new games with a vengeance!
