Close. The thirteen stripes (red and white) represent the original 13 colonies that were under the control of Britain. The U.S. first flag had both 13 stripes and 13 stars. Then when they added more states they added both stripes and stars (I think up to 17 stripes). At which point it became clear that adding more stripes was simply not going to be possible with western expansion, they took it back to the original 13 colonies thing and kept adding stars.

I don't care much about the Palestine flag issue, but in a strict sense Solver is right. Many of the available flags do not represent independent countries (the British subnational flags, Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands...) plus the flags from some well known countries and/or states aren't available. I guess the word 'consistent' cannot be applied to the current flag collection, but in the end... who cares? You still have the avatar to mend certain things

Yes, Tniem, as soon as Palestine becomes an indpendent country, I'll drop the complaint, because it will be a country protected by treaties and acknowledged by UN. As long as it's not, I will complain (or at least until Markos does one of things I suggested).

I´ve been away to slave in the kitchen at our annual party summer camp so I got a rather nasty surprise with the flags and all... Maybe it takes some getting used to, but...

1) It looks awful, cluttered up.
