I'd favor nudging the slider to a 10% science setting. Even if we are banking mainly on tech-whoring to advance scientifically, the cost in gpt seems minimal, and we might get better deals once we've made progress towards a given tech.
(This possibility is also under discussion in the Minister of the Economy thread, but I thought I'd post here to re-center the discussion and see if others felt the same way.)

As my tax vs science poll is unofficial, only the Prez can decide whether we raise tax rate or not. But if 10% tax wins by a landslide, there is a big chance the Prez raises science at the beginning of the turnchat. If he does, what will you research ?

Dear civman2000,

Several concerned citizens (including me) would like you to research currency. We are having a very hard time carrying all of our bananas around to buy things, so we think that these little round pieces of metal called "coins" could serve in their place. Several of our neighbors scoffed at the idea, saying "How can you trade without bananas?", but we still think this might be a solution. We also have been thinking about this thing we like to call a market. We could have all of the shops and vendors get on one street, so it would be easier to get everything.
