The Friends of Mrs Finbar's Camelia Bush Full PM-box? Change here!

Please help to save this wonderful plant. You can show your support here:

http://pub44.ezboard.com/fpeoplesrepublicofftopicfrm10

finbar wants to chop down this 30 year old pink camelia to put in a vegetable patch.

He's pruned it to within an inch of its life, given it the pruning equivalent of a mullet haircut.

There may not be much time left.

I had the privilege of meeting this wonderful ornamental plant last weekend and can confirm that not only is it a beautiful old-growth bush but a very good listener.

finbar's pet dogs will be devastated if they can't p*ss on it any more.

I'm happy to set up a forum for them, whatever. I do want to the board to have civ on it and some tribe people just moved there but they haven't done much with it yet.

Sneak's now married, y'see, and reduced to peddling his double entendres on these forums because, while they formerly elicited a coy blush and giggle from his then-intended, they now only earn him a clip over the ear. Just the first of many subtle and not-so-subtle changes you'll notice, Sneak.

BTW, it's not a camelia bush. It never was a bush. It was a fully-fledged, bona fide tree. Like about 15' tall. But not anymore.

15 feet tall? You bloody vandal It was about 2 feet tall after you'd "pruned" it. You basically lopped off about 30 years of growth, judging by the plant at my parent's house.

A vandal, and proudly so. I also stretched out the lopping process over a couple of weekends. Mrs finbar would appear on the upstairs balcony weekend after weekend to survey the carnage and her sobbing became increasingly hysterical.

Finbar-

Instead of cutting it down right away you could just find some way of making it die a "natural" death. When its branches start falling off you can say to the missus "Oh dear, it looks like the tree has died, I think I will have to cut it down.".
