Is this really that big of an issue? I think there are far more pressing issues than the religious beliefs of some politicians.

Anyway, a lot of today's problems would be solved by paying attention to some of these people. An increase in traditional morals would bring an end to all the drug using, single mothers, etc.

Actually, you're all wrong. The US government is largely controlled by aliens called the Greys. It's not known by many, but the Greys aren't a real race at all -- they're clever but mindless bioconstructs created by another race called Mi-Go, the Fungi from Yuggoth.

The reason for this is obvious, but only once you understand the purposes of the Mi-Go. You see, the End Times are at hand, but not in any biblical sense. The universe is populated by ancient horrors beyond our imagination, and some of them reside right here on Earth, dormant. Once they wake up, it's game over for ol' Earth, and the Mi-Go know this.

What they want is to continue extracting needed resources until the Old Ones return. Using the stereotypical Greys, they are able to hide their operations, which if discovered, would immediately cause violent opposition from humans.

The first signs of the awakening of the Old Ones can already be seen. The foul fish people living in the deeps of our oceans have started migrating, and have attacked human ships and coastal towns more and more recently. Creatures known as the Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath are manifesting frequently, even to those merely dabbling in the dark arts, as is the way of most cults. It is only a matter of time until Great Cthulhu opens his eyes and rises from the sunken city of R'Lyeh. All of mankinds weapons will be useless as the ancient, alien beings claim this planet as their own, and rule it as they once did countless aeons ago.

Unfortunately their religious beliefs, at times, directly influence government policy. Many Christian fundamentalists believe that Jesus will return only after the Jews have been returned to their "homeland" in Palestine. If you seen me rule tropico, you will come to the conclusion I am probably one of the best leaders in the world. Police and Military abuse runs rampant and I just eliminate anybody who opposes me or even thinks about protesting.

I will personally have every omnipotent alien shot who tries to rule any country. I the Supreme Dictator, of tropico, have declared war on this omnipotent alien crap, and have declared martial law. The Nazis believed they were the superior Aryan race and that Jews should be exterminated. I don't think its religion that is the problem, its what people are willing to believe that is the problem.

Again, all we have seen is that a few officials were a member of a group with a milleniarian as one of the directors. I still haven't seen any concrete link showing that many members of the Bush administration follow this theology, or that it has had any significant effect. Yes, we are supporting Israel.

I can imagine you running around on the street with a sheet of paper shouting that you have a list of dangerous religious fanatics in high place. The thread is some sort of wierd cross between McCarthy and Chicken Little. You take a popular religious based book, see that the author is involved in the same organization as a handful of political leaders, and conclude that these politicians are going to force us all to live the way that the novel tells us to. I think that you are getting worked up over nothing. In fact, I think that your problem boils down to the fact that you personally don't agree with the book or its message. Let's reverse the situation.

Would you be upset if: an author has written a bestseller based on a vision of the proletariat overthrowing the capitalist system. This author belongs to a liberal organization that includes a handful of politicians.

If this were the case, I doubt that you would be complaining at all. The author and politicians simply have a different ideology than you. That is your problem. If this is why you are complaining, than you are no better than a Communist Jerry Fallwell, closeminded and biased against all belief systems other than his own. The politicians you mentioned don't buy into your beliefs. Deal with it.

End Times, UFOs, angels, that Edwards dope... they all appeal to our endless desire to be titillated and entertained by pure escapism.

As an atheist who sees that in some real ways Christian (or any faith's) nutbars are a legitimate threat to freedom, I have no problem at all with these kinds of books other than their being exceptionally awful writing.

No, not really. Its just that a good chunk of Baptists are premillenialists, most non-Baptist relatively main-stream envangelicals are post-millenialist (ie no rapure) as are quite a few Baptists.
