A suggestion... (to Loc and others)
I've noticed a few people saying they can only play the MP or SP tournament. Why not just keep running the SP tournament (a fourth one), but make the timing over a 2 or 3 month period, that way more people may be able to fit in both MP and SP.

Even though 2 or 3 months would allow more people to play the tourny I think it's a bad idea. The tournaments are also responsible for bringing some life into these pages, but in 2 or 3 months the thread will probably die. Furthermore we'd have to wait for the ranking a rather long time.
If anybody needs more time he can always submit his game later for the unofficial ranking, can't he?

Exactly, mapfi. Not everyone participates in the MP tournament, what are the others going to do in the meantime? If I can help it, the SP Tournament feature will always be here, for many months (perhaps years - but you never know what the future will bring) to come. If a few people have to miss 1 or 2 editions, surely that can't be all *that* catastrophal... Especially not since they can always submit their savegames later, unofficially (I'm still playing the 2nd Tournament myself, which I missed due to PC problems).
Dread_Doomfist & Repistes,
Cool, thanks for playing I will process the savegames later today...

Repistes' game intrigues me: much less cities and pop than Martin, yet a significantly higher score. I can't quite pin down what gives him the edge...
Anyway, congrats to both players on their (preliminary) top 3 endscore

Well hes got one more feat, 3 more wonders and 2 more advances there... and a faster end date. i dont know the scoring system back to front, i never held much to a high score, so i wouldnt know if those things would account for the extra points.
Have a look later perhaps, i often dont have time for a high points chase, maybe next time though.

Looks like we got a new specialist for high scores, Repistes. So Jesper, you're going to beat that?
|
I will!
After reading this curent standings I captured the last city for a test: over 30.000 points and it is 2069!
But I dont know if I can beat the hall of fame highscore ...
So long

That said, you're probably right, to maximize the number of people playing a new mod, it is probably best to go back to SAP or GoodMod (although I've been having problems with this mod crashing back to the desk top) until the multi-player is over. |
Well, I for one would like to test out another mod, such as Cradle, MedMod, or WAW. Goodmod and SAP are excellant mods, but I haven't been able to play much with these others either.
...and by the way, what's all of this talk about getting 50,000 points yikes!!!

Jesper,
Time is running out, if you still want to submit your game, do it fast!
Martin,
No, sorry. Those rule changes are too drastic to count, even in the unofficial ranking. Even with very minor rule changes one could almost double one's score if the changes are chosen differently, so that give an accurate comparison of your skills towards other players's. In your case, your score was only 24,725 - even worse than your official score!
HuangShan,
Sorry to hear that but I'm sure all the practice will ensure you'll have better luck next month!

Wow, excellent game, Jepser - I don't think I ever saw so many undersea cities or size 60 cities in one game before A pity you didn't have more time, in the extra 50 yours you might even have been able to cross the 40,000 point thresshold
Anyway, here's an update of the scores so far. Unless someone submits a game real soon it's also the final socre (with my game removed). The official ranking and a new tournament will be posted tomorrow or Monday (I have to work all day tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll get around to it):
