With all the focus on Iraq lately, I think people should be reminded that far greater danger is quietly "stockpiling" power.
http://www.spaceimaging.com/gallery...01/busherhr.jpg (very large pic, the reactor is in the bottom left part)
That's Bushar.
Now, for the facts :
1) Before OBL's phenomenal 'success' in Sept 11, Iran was the world's leading exporter of terrorism.
Groups based in Iran and funded by the Irani goverment were responsible for both local and international terror attacks. The Hizballah and the Islamic Jihad(and partially Hamas) are getting support from there and recognized as terror groups by the US. The Hizballah is an organization with "global reach", as proven in the Buenos Aires attacks which were directly sponsored by Iran.
2) For 20 years the Iranis were promoting US hatred around the world, vowing to destroy it. Iran is also ruled by a radical fundamentalist goverment. They look moderate concerning religious issues, but as far as the US, Israel or nuclear weapons are concerned they are hardcore fanatics.
3) Iran, with the help of Russia, develops nuclear weapons. The Bushar reactor should be ready in couple years and operational a while later.
4) The next generation of Irani missiles should be able to reach large parts of Europe.
So, from the American point of view, Iran should be much more of a threat than the half ruined Iraq with it's psychopatic leader.
The US cant attack Iran, in a sense of a large scale invasion or whatever because it lacks a casus belli, but what about the nuclear reactor?
Politically, assuming the administration wants it, can the US alone or together with Israel do something about it? What's the opinion of the Senate, the Congress etc, concerning Iran?
When Europe is going to pull it's head out of the sand and realize that they are threatened?

Well, they arent idiots.
After 11/9 they are keeping low profile, but in the moment they have the bomb i'm sure you'll hear about them.

Even if they have nukes, who cares? If USA, Russia, India etc can have them why they shouldn't have them?
Iran is no threat for anyone. |
Really? Why dont you listen to a speech or two of their leaders?
Look, it's not a matter of "why should/shouldn't they have nukes". There is a possible threat of destruction to Israel in 2 years, and to Europe and the US in a decade.
They have the full right to build the reactor and try to get nuclear weapons, but Israel(and the west, if they have any brains left) also have the full right to make sure they dont, not because it's fair or unfair, but because they are a threat.

So because the US had mistaken in Iran once they wont be a threat?
quote: You do it. You already have experience with blowing up reactors. What does blowing up one more matter to Isreal? |
I hope we do something about it.
But the Iranis learned the lesson, they dont concentrate everything in one place like the Iraqis and they keep good defences. I'm afraid that even if Israel attacks, it wont be as effective as an American attack because of the resources you have.

Yeah, and what are they going to do? Vote the fundies out of their office?

Anyway perhaps Israel can be endangered. But i don't mind all that much. Only a serious threat will force it to lead reasonable politics. But Iran won't dare to attack Israel openly, as well as any other state... |
Ok.
You just said that Iran is not a threat at all earlier.
quote: And why Iran should invade Europe? |
As part of the holy Islamic revolution that they have been spreading for the last two decades maybe?
quote: Not a chance. Europe gets anti-american and pro-arabic recently and unlike our dear "Israel",
it doesn't stand on ground stolen from majorly Muslim population. |
And in 10 years? In 20? You dont know what's gonna happen. So now it's unreasonable for them to do something, but imagine what will the Mullahs do when they have the bomb?!
