	Golden age Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

When should we try to get our golden age and why?

Potentially we could get a golden age during the war with France, if we send along some War Chariots and they win. However, then we'll get a golden age too early in the game and we won't get much of it... on the other hand, getting a golden age later during the game would require us to build a wonder or two (using the war chariot during the medieval age is obviously not an option).

Any ideas, thoughts or comments? I'm really interested to know what people think about the golden age.

we did a poll before the war with america, and the majority are for the mideval age.

Some players keep in reserve a few WC, and when they want their GA, they let them kill a unit reduced to 1 HP.

In 1.29 you can build you're UU at anytime once you have discovered the tech no matter how obselete it becomes.

I don't know how valid this point is were using 1.21.

I suggest we build a few, once we've emerged from the war with France, and bank them somewhere to store up a GA trigger.

If we take the pyramids does this move us into a GA?
Im thinking that once we subdue the Pathetic Persians and control their(our) bountiful lands we pursue a possible GA to build up infrastructure after the War. Any thoughts?

I say GA after we take Persia to the Ocean and after we change to Republic. Once we take Persia, we consentrate on building and defense. The best use for a GA is building, not war.

I think its about time too as soon as we aren't in any real wars (america doesnt count if we decide to finish them post-persia)

This has been said for just about every war we've been in. If we finish off the persians there will be another war after that and another just after that. We should concentrate on building and defence now.

We should seriously consider a GA soon or now. We need an infrastructure boost and we need to sort out or FP/palace situation which a GA would speed. Also sisitines is close which is very important a GA could get us there.

Actually it is an option which is the readon the WC went to Uber. We plan on mothballing several WCs at Uber and when we want our GA we bring them out and attack either a weakened enemy or one of the enemy's absolete units.

Personally I think we should wait until we've settled Persia and have libraries and marketplaces in most of our cities to magnify the GA effects.

Or perhaps not wait so long.
Maybe if we get the GA when we are building libraries and such we could complete them in less time (less corruption and waste). This way we would still get the benefits of them in our GA. If they get completed during our GA, that is...

Say about 10-50 turns from now. After we have a few more techs and a couple of wonders worth building.

I would like to use the GA for building our infrastructure. The AI with their production bonuses is starting to kill us in this regard.

One thing to remember is this, if we decide on GA we could use our wc on the persians, that would speed up the war.

Yes, it does. The egyptians are an industrious and religious civ. That's exactly the character of the Pyramids. There are a few Great Wonders with the two attributes of a civ. The Pyramids are among these GW.

the piramids may trigger a golden age for religious or industrial civs , ......

the other way to trigger it , is to have a victory by the UU , .......

benefits , one extra shield and or commerce on every square that holds at least one , .......

now , let them keep their piramids , we can do it without them , ........

Can anyone describe what would be the ideal situation for a GA?

I know in my games I often have it during a wars of conquest because of the UU use. Military units would storm out in record time and great swaths of land would be conquered at ungodly speeds -- difficult foes vanquished. It was always beautiful. I adore those Golden Years. GAs often are associated (to me) with massive expansion.

The few times I've had it during peaceful eras, it never seemed all that exciting. Sure, I got my buildings done a little faster, and I was able to beat out my neighbors towards a wonder, but my nation didn't dramatically change as it did during those conquest GAs. Peaceful GAs always seemed wasted to me. Not as much excitement.

Frankly, I think we have enough cities to both build AND fight a war with Persia. Wouldn't it be Golden to have that GA right about now? It would bring the war to a faster conclusion and give us the production to actually build structures, settlers, etc in our territory at the same time. It gives us the ability to do two things at once sucessfully.

Because, in my mind, historically this IS our Golden Age. It seems appropriate to use the game bonus now to really punch it into high gear. With any luck, at the conclusion of our GA, we will be able to be scientifically independent, productive, cultured, and own the largest, wealthiest nation on the continent ... AND we would have two wonders: Pyramids and Sun Tzu.

Ah, it's a good time to be an Apolytonian!
