I've changed the Navaho.
Some notes on the other suggestions. I really got to know, which you'd replace with which. As I've said, the total number got to be 76.
As much as I can see, the first 14 are assigned to the "American Culture Group", the next 14 to "European", the next to "Mediterranean". The rest is divided between Mid-East (including Africa) and East Asian, probably with the "Kassite" in my list being the last Mid-Eastern barbarian tribe.
Pict: Instead of Scot? Are they to be preferred?
Irish: Basically Celts
Frysian: Already so many Germanics
Helvetian: Celts
Maltese: Unimportant
Venetian: Maybe. Instead of Croats maybe?
Berber: Instead of Numidians - thinkable
Taugari (pl. Tuareg) - as above
Pigmee - nah
Masai - I've considered them; which should be replaced?
Somalian - nah
Ghanese - Included in Ashanti and Hausa
Druz - too unimportant IMHO
Kurd - maybe, replacing what?
Afghan - nah, not even a single people
Tunguz - really important?
Viet - I don't think they're important enough
Tamil - thought about them, but they again are of little importance, relatively
Maori - included in Polynesians
Aboriginal - nah
Seminole
Comanche
Hopi
Algonquin
Cheyenne - for all of these goes: replacing which other tribes. The odds ratio between North American and South American should not be changed too much
Cuban - nah
Mexican - even less; Aztecs, Mayas and Spanish are enough Mexicans

there was never a tribe called the bantu.
Bantu isn't really a race at all but a classification of a group of african languages (including zulu).
Bantu just means "the people". So in south africa you have the languages English (language of settlers from the British Empire), Afrikaans (language of the Dutch settlers) and the bantu languages (languages of the people)
Definition of Bantu:
"group of African languages forming a subdivision of the Benue-Niger division of the Niger-Congo branch of the Niger-Kordofanian language family (see African languages). Bantu contains hundreds of languages that are spoken by 120 million Africans in the Congo Basin, Angola, the Republic of South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. The word Bantu means “the people” and is made up of the stem -ntu (“person”) and the plural prefix ba-. 1
The total number of Bantu languages is uncertain. The most important is Swahili (see Swahili language), spoken as a first language by more than 30 million people, chiefly in Kenya, Tanzania, Congo (Kinshasa), and Uganda. As the chief trade language of E Africa, it is understood by perhaps an additional 20 million. Other significant Bantu languages include Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, and Setswana, which are spoken respectively by 9 million, 7 million, 5 million, and 4 million persons, all living in South Africa, Lesotho, and Botswana; Makua and Thonga, the languages respectively of 4 million and 3 million people, chiefly in Mozambique; Bemba, the language of over 3 million in Zambia and Congo (Kinshasa); Shona, with 8 million speakers in Zimbabwe and Mozambique; Kikuyu, native to 6 million in Kenya; Ganda, the language of 4 million in Uganda; Ruanda, spoken by 8 million in Rwanda, Uganda, and Congo (Kinshasa); Rundi, the language of 6 million in Burundi and Congo (Kinshasa); Mbundu, native to 6 million in Angola; Luba, with 7 million speakers in Congo (Kinshasa); Kongo, the language of 4 million in Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), and Angola; and Lingala, spoken by 6 million in Congo (Kinshasa). I know that era-specific Barb units are impossible. This lack of flexibility kills me , and makes me remember the CtP series with a certain nostalgia. but If I may suggest, The barb unit , if you wanna have only one of them , is to be the infantry unit, because the horseman is rather good as a barbarian , and also has that feel throughout the ages. In the games I play , I've made a little change so in my games, The infantry unit of the barbs is a swordsman, and the cavalry unit is the chinese rider. maybe something to be considered, I don't know.
oh, and these are "minor civs", not barbarians. REALLY.
