	Official : name our currency Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Here is the poll regarding the name of our currency.

The Ministry of the Economy suggests :

- A bronze coin will be called "Apo" (plural "Apos"), and will be roughly worth a banana.
- An iron coin will be called "Dankos" (Plural "Dankos"), and will be worth 10 Apos.
- A gold coin will be called "Lyton" (plural "Lytons"), and will be worth 100 Dankos, i.e 1,000 Apos.

Question is : Do you accept the following names for our currency ?

Please, fellow citizens of Apolytonia, do not be led like the so-called sheep of foriegn lands. Why should our currency be named after a tea? Let us find SOMETHING relating to OUR culture to pattern the currency after.

Even the Banana has refused to lend it's name to this poll!

There are many possibilities from OUR culture: Eaglot, Junga, Bana, Nana, Banana Note, or Uber to name a few.

Choose the Lyton, people! Think of all the currency names you know- almost all are 1 or 2 sylable names: Rupee, Frank, Mark, Euro, Dollar, Krone, Peso, Yen, Ruble, Lira, so forth.

There are very few 3 sylable names, like Peseta, Bolivar, Balboa, do we want somehting as uncatchy and difficualt to both say quickly and abbriviate like 'copper banana'?

We use the banana too much- its beginning to be a sign of lacking creativity!

Free us from redundant names, pay homage to our ancient founders and our great nation and name it the Lyton!

I have to continue to oppose this continued tie of our currency with bananas, whats the point if everything will ba banana based?! It gets boring people!

I like the Lyton, its a simple name. The thing is that the only other suggested names have been "Banana" or "Banana Dollar", and Guapo. I don't mid Guapo, if sween wishes to elaborate, but honestly:

ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN BANANA THING! EVERYTHING IN OUR FAIR STATE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE BASED ON IT! ITS ALREADY OUR gOd, SO GIVE IT A REST!

This is a direct result of that crazed lunatic trying to force EVERYONE to worship that foreign "god" the One!

Our financial system is in peril, our Minister of the Economy has been brainwashed! Fear not Apolytonians, if we defeat this foreign tea abomination we WILL be able to eat tomorrow, and many years to come. Even if I'm not as vocal as Gepap, I also think it gets boring : banana this, banana that, banana thingy. Hell, it looks like Apolytonia exhausted all its creativeness thinking the banana, and nothing else now comes out from our minds.

For instance, a "Guapo" is a good idea, and I'd have put it in the poll if it had been told in the debate thread. But everything related to the banana gets boring. It's getting too much used, and is not fun anymore IMO.

If you don't like the suggested names (in-game, we'll only talk in Lytons, because it's the kind of coins we have in our treasury), I understand, and you can vote no.
If you have other ideas, please post them in the debate thread, so that a new project can arise if this one fails. But please no more banana. It's getting utterly boring.

Now, why you should vote for the suggested project

- It's the most complete project today.
- It's a comprehensive and simple project, which will work perfectly with our optional "economy game" (see Captain's thread for details)
- The names are consistent with our Apolyton identity, without being too obvious.
- "Lyton" is a catchy name , and it's the one we'll use almost all the time (except in the economy game)
- The system is convenient, because common people won't be confused : they'll get one banana simply for 1 Apo, i.e one coin.
- We have to name our currency after all. I'd like to remind we have one for more than 200 years now...

I'd like to make a statement against obscurantism :
"Lyton" hasn't anything to do with "Lipton", or whatever barbaric names our zealots can come up with.
At the contrary, it's a name which goes along with our very Apolyton culture, and is unique to us.
Unlike bananas, which are known by the French, the Americans, and even the Persians (our benevolent Banana gave prosperity even to some inferior people, showing its greatness and glory).

Don't listen to the babbling of an old zealot who cannot understand wordly things like money ! Don't allow us to be economically backwards ! Vote Lyton now !

I wonder who votes no. So far, there is a tie, and we've only seen Skywalker and GhengisFarb being explicitely opposed to the suggested names.

Also, I'd like to point out that GHengis' designs are not going to be ignorred, should Yes win. We're talking about the names of our currency here, and not the design.
I'm seriously pondering using his Bronze banana coin for the Apo coin (because of the parity : 1 Apo = 1 banana). Also, his "Eaglot" coin would be a fine drawing for the Apolytonian Iron coin. I'meagerly waiting for another quality work for the Gold coin

So, let me get this straight. You are a jungle civilization, and your God is the Banana. First off, the word Lyton does not seem to be a phrase many jungle civs would learn to even pronounce, nor are currencies named after the country they are from. Second, no Godfearing people would pass around their God as currency.

Now, say you you use Gaupo, it could be pronounced "kwahpo". In order to name your currency, you have to think about what kind of cultures and pronounciations your people have. Or, you can take your first leader or an important founder, and put a spin on their name to make it sound more like a currency.

Continuing along those lines shows marked lack of creativity.

It also sounds stupid. Currency named after bananas seems transient and worthless. With banana names, I'd immediately trade it for pesos - or even Francs despite the fact we're about to crush that currency's country

Did you read any of the postings? People have proposed several other suggestions including Eaglot (the second post in the thread), and that's just on this thread. There are more suggestions in the original thread.

Voted no because it is using the 10 decimal instead of something more original and easier to use, for example the one I proposed on the discussion thread.

I have no real preferences on the name of the units however.
