I posted this a while ago, I am re-writing it because of rescent events.
Every state legislature has ratified you to be king of America for a year. The supreme court, congress, the senate, the house, the current president also agree. You have a pettition from the American people(all 275 million of em) saying they go along with this, your king for a year......legally the constitution and all laws are nothing before you.....you are the absolute despot and all powerfull king.......for 1 year.
There are a couple of stipulations before you answer this.......
You want to do good and make America/the world a better place, you are doing this out of a totaly selfless attitude, and you cannot do anything specifically(or targeted at a group you are in, just because you are in that group) to benifit yourself in any way while you are in office, or while you are out of office. You are a complete humanitarian, you cant take any power with you, or do anything in office that will help you in any way once your out, or to benifit friends familly etc while your in/out.....your totaly selfless.
There is no way to extend your power once your out of office.
Dont fight those stipulations please  .
What do you do with your year in office?
This is a serious question, please dont annex countries all silly nilly and nuke the ones with hard to pronounce names.

Cut pollution in half, cancel farm subsidies, give subsidies to companies researching alternat enegery, cut tariffs, reconfigure the army for guerrila warefare, increase taxs to clinton era levels, pass repetitive motion disability act, increase health care benefits, retirement for every american over 65, increase price of gas, eliminate electoral college, increase corporate taxs, nationalise insurance, nationalise an airline company, decrease the ammount of ammo you can legally buy for guns, cancel US aid to columbia, end drug war, legalise weed, increase immigration quotas, increase military spending, merge CIA FBI NSA INS DEA ATF into one entity.

1. socialize helthcare and the utilities (power, water, etc.)
2. adopt Kyoto treaty
3. remove immigration restrictions
4. raise taxes for people who make more than $80,000
5. completely get references to god out of the government
6. legalize marijana for medicine
7. BAN TOBACCO
8. end embargo on Cuba
9. assasinate Ariel Sharon and force Israel to recognize Palestiene
10. get rid of all religious regimes around world
11. triple NASA's funding
12. encourage research in fusion power
