Obviously Stalin. Killed mre people than most of leaders written here. And, even worse, most of the people were killed not because they were enemies (like Genghis Khan did, for example), but because they belonged to some group. He also taken most of the wealth from those who didn't killed. Hitler also killed people just because they were a part of some group, but he is like god if comparing to Stalin (Stalin executed much more people than Hitler and if also add up all exiled/robbed people under order of Stalin, Stalin harmed maybe hundreds of times more people than Hitler).

and...

my vote leans to kim il sung, because without his poison, korea would be one country, semi-democratic, and strong...

but for that matter, i might as well point the finger at truman, tojo, hirohito, mao, stalin, and rhee.

Suffering from ads?

If you meant in terms of consciously choosing to commit what he knew to be acts of evil for the pure enjoyment of seeing others suffer, then none of these men really suffice as the most evil in history.

Ivan IV of Russia would certainly fit that description. Perhaps Lucrezia Borgia as well. I think Ron Jeremy came up with a list of some of the nastiest such folks ever.

Of the list, the most evil, IMO, would be Stalin or Amin.

Including Lenin, Napoleon and Clinton on the list is pretty laughable.

Gates, on the other hand... yipes!

12 years ago, one could have the same about Hitler. And it's certainly not Hitler's merit that Germany is united again. So for my view, the list is already pretty well ordered, even if I don't know if I should give the first place to Hitler or Stalin. Maybe shared is the best. And if someone should complain that I take one of them too lightly: I don't. I rate the other just as bad as the one you think is the worst.

Chegitz, I seriously doubt that. However that he did the following is true:
Killed MANY people because they were either rich, either belonged to opposition
Exiled GREAT numbers of people, some full nations were exiled (like Krimeans). Many did not made those "trips" alive (especially it was true for babies and childs, because they were weaker).
Taken all the wealth and land from people who had too much of it, this was also very great numbers
Occupied many nations and forced everyone to speak russian (in schools, universities, newspapers, books were also only in russian) in some of them (thanks god not in Lithuania, but here some people also knew only Russian).
Flocked these countries with Russian people, who now makes great part of some of them (thankfully to the great governing of Lithuanian SSR (leaders of party here did not allowed to expand cities fastly, this way slowing "immigration"), only 10% are Russians here, but for example in Kazakhstan and Belarus more than 50% are)
Destroyed economies of these countries, ruining lifes for millions.

This is bad enough on itself, but if we consider also how many people he killed in wars that number would surpass Genghis Khan one very easily. Also he forced everyone to have his picture (some thinks this is Saddam "invention"...) and killed everyone who showed disrespect to him or his picture or owned symbolics of annexed nations...

Hitler was half-mad, perhaps fully. But more evil than others on the list? I doubt it. He really believed what he was doing was right and was for the good of his people and humanity. Yeah, it's sick and twisted, showing what a demented mind he had. But consciously evil? I have my doubts. I certainly wouldn't say he was the most evil man in history. He just happened to be the lunatic idealogue who got into power and had the technology to really cause some damage.

Tie between Hitler and Stalin. Ghengis and Vlad are just too cool for me to vote for them, Nero and Caligula were too insane, and Clintin and Gates are equivalent to the Banana option as far as I'm concerned.

Since Clinton is the only US president up there, It has to be Clinton because if there's one thing that I've learned in all my years in the OT, it's that
THE US IS THE MOST EVIL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

The case against Lenin is extremely debatable, but you could make it.

Sonic, Stalin is one of those people that people just love to hate, so that any accusation against him is accepted, hence my comment about babies and kittens. It is true that Stalin is one of the most horrible people in history. It is not true that he killed more people than Hitler. Hitler is responsible for the deaths of over 60 million people (10 million in the camps and 50 million in the war). Only the most insane accusations against Stalin equal this number (basically accusing Stalin of killing off about 1/3rd of the population of the whole USSR).

Truely I despise Stalin and the crimes he committed. But he's not the worst, most evil leader ever. I'm not evern sure that person is on the list.

Got spare money?

On a semi-related note I believe CBS is showing a series on Hitler's early life. There are already protests. For some people they cannot fathom that Hitler is not the most evil man ever to exist. They are shocked that CBS is going to present him as a seemingly normal person (well no one has seen it so we'll see how he's portrayed).

I usually hate national network shows like this, but it might be worth a viewing.

Well, Hitler was never a fairly normal person, by all accounts. He was a demented child who grew into a demented adult. So that wouldn't be an accurate representation.

He is certainly a poster boy for what can happen under horrible parenting.

I agree, in his way he was fully mad. He felt some sort of messianic mission to save humanity, or better, what he thought to be the best of humanity. I doubt he ever had a bit of a feeling of guilt about the war or the holocaust. For all he did he looked for justifications which held in his eyes. But in the effect, this made him even more dangerous. People would voluntarily follow a Hitler much longer than a Stalin. I guess Stalin knew he was a criminal, Hitler didn't realize this. But IMO this has nothing to do with evil or not (at least not looked from outside).
