Really annoying pop-up ad

Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

What's the deal with this pop-up? It appears in the middle of the screen, without a normal browser window and then folds away across the screen. It also happens more than once a day. Two questions:

1. I already get banner ads - am I supposed to get a pop-up as well? (using default-civ3 style)

2. Is this pop-up 'authorised'?

And I get steroid ads with IE. Unfortunately I have erased the screenshot I took of one of them. BTW I also get gambling related pop-ups.

Put an end to popups!

Get a better browser. With Mozilla you can refuse pop-ups, but new windows still open if you click a link yourself.

Opera is also a fairly good browser, but if you refuse pop-ups, they don't appear even when you want to. You can change that setting quickly though.

As I don't live in USA or Canada, I get instead a message appologising the pop-up. How nice!

rasbelin, opera is a free download that's fully functional. all you get is a single banner in the upper right.

Suffering from ads?

If I keep getting these new pop-up ads, I'm going to have to re-install ad-blocker software. C'mon, I've been a good boy, I took off my blocking software after the previous problem was resolved (what, a year ago?), I allow the regular ads to show.

Sometimes I get two at once (1 over screen, 1 underscreen).

again, you CAN change to the special styles which give you 1 (one) pop-up every 6 (six) or 12 (twelve) hours

Ultra-special is great. I get one unobtrusive popup every once in a while and that's it. I don't see why more people aren't using it.

Yes, I do very well know that as I have used Opera. But the point is that it's adware, unless you pay for the licensed version of it. I don't use Opera because I don't like the current version of it and because I've been a devoted Netscape user since January 1998 (or actually NN since a few months after that) when I started to surf actively. Now I'm using Mozilla, plus IE for websites that don't work properly with Mozilla (i.e. Markos' personal website ).

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Not to mention that Opera has the bad habit of freezing the entire system when it encounters some pages... At least on my comp. Too bad really, I love the google box in the adress bar
