I know it's like ten day later but,
it's not the "unless" I worry about, but the antecedent of "this." When I first read it I though this meant war itself not the act of avoiding war.
Maybe something more like "War should be avoiding unless avoiding the war would result in a detriment to internal developement and such and such." It doesn't sound that great but it is more clear. Of course you don't have to use my example word for word.

hi ,

unless the war is really good for us , meaning that we can secure constantly new resources , then go for it , if not we should only set out when needed in selfdefense , or a preemtive strike , ....

we should also try to be swiftly , ....

and drag a war on when its not needed , ....

In my own games I usally play the DIA style.

My own comment about the long term goal as it remains to this game is that it may be too late to try to win via Culture. (We've lost too many 1000 year increased culture bonsuses.) Space Race remains an option, especally if we can increase the number of luxaries so we have more of them to sell to reduce the cost of buying the techs we need to get to the point where doing our own reserach is possible. Taking enough Persian cities to where they will gladly yeild all their techs for 20 years peace will greatly help this as well.

Does the DIA have offical positions on the current Persian war and the proposed second American war?

We want a space race or culture victory, I think we should end the war with the persian as soon as we can get a good deal and the american war will end when they join us after that we want to end wars and focus on building up the inferstructure. On a side note we welcome any new members, so please ask to join if you wish.

Our position? As far as position goes on the war (i actually typed "war on terrorism" for a second) with Persia, it's all well and good. They are the agressors who happen to have great material wealth. Mmm... material wealth...

America, on the other hand, we do not want to invade. Instead, I would advocate the "Go West and Settle" Plan. Really, America has nothing to offer us other than incense, with the Persian's also have. Our army is huge and bloated. We could conquer Rome for Banana's Sake! I say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! STOP SQUANDERING OUR RESOURSES ON BLOODY WARS AND ARMIES!

Build Librarys, Temples, Marketplaces, etc. Fun Stuff. Rebuild our war-torn empire, don't go to war AGAIN!

any DIA members here actually oppose the ongoing war agst persia right now? maybe any of u feel that we should be building more libraries and temples?

If not do u guys in general favor going after america as it looks like the warmonger is planning towards? to how much will you guys support american campaign? full support? limited campaign or flat out no to wars?

But seriously, there's a thread out there somewhere entitled 'DIA renewal' or something like that. Go in there and say you want to be a member. Although you've probably made enough noise in here for our party leaders (whoever they may be) to recognize you.

Oh, and congratulations on joining our great party, a party of the future.

As for war, we have enough armies to squash America. Le's stop building them. And end this war with Persia, our empire will be to far flung taking land from them anyways. Maybe they'l be good for a tech but that's it.

This is my notification in this thread (as opposed to that in the "DIA Renewal" thread) that I'd like to join DIA.

I'm brand new to C3DG as well.

I've been keeping busy (for now) on reading all those old jungle gazettes and looking at old statistics and maps, etc....

I figure I should be up to speed in enough in a bit to start contributing. Until then, I'll mostly remain a lurker ;-).

welcome Arnelos... I am quite new to C3DG as well so maybe we can rely on each other to ask ourselves stupid questions and not feel alone...

anyway I wanna bring attention to the Persia Has Iron thread.... Seems like our warmongers have stumbled on unexpected difficulties. While my faith in our military might remains still that we can defeat persia, This is just gonna make our expsnsive war campaign even worse. And we know for sure that Persian military has the pikemen... which is gonna be a nusiance for our knights. Anyway, we have to think about limiting our cost on this war, and if it comes to the worst case, we should have a alternative plan for sueing peace with Persia whiles terms are good toward us and resume the war at indefinte time. Persian empire is lot smaller than ours but they still have 4 strong cities with great luxuries. Well let's just hope we don't get to that point. I'm sure we won't tho.. but I guess I'm bit of a pessimist.

I think I'll stay an indepedant for now. (I just advocated responding to the threat of Iron by building more Knights in leiu of improvements.)

I share the same long run goal of a peaceful space race victory, but think that the taking the Persian heartland and America would be a faster path to doing so from the situation we are currently in.

When we start getting more overrun results in the Persian heartland, then we can afford to build more culture improvements.

America should be weak enough to where the forces used against Persia can be sent directly there (if the Aztecs don't wipe the Americans out first.)

As for the other Civs on the mainland: I'm not interested in a campaign with them their either too far away and/or take too long to conquer for the benifits.

(I think we can aquire that French city via cultural assimiliation)

The DIA, for some reason feels the need to remain secretive. This is nothing new, it was just done in the form of massive PM's during the time when Timeline ran the show. Throughout their history, their leaders have maintained a secret communication with their members.

Look, they even left it to a HAWK to go and create a usefull organization for the discussion of actual BUILDING!!!

Now, perhaps if a few of them would respond to my above thread, I would then be able to procede WITH them instead of leaving them with no voice in a group being designed for debating issues. I WILL continue that group with or without the DIA. Do you really want to be left with no voice to reach the people?[/roleplay]

I am not disputing that DIA members are more than HAPPY to follow along. Did THEY CREATE this when I suggested it both in private and in public several thousand years (several months) ago? NO. I was told BY DIA LEADERS that such a thing had no use. That there was no strategy to building.

Now, suddenly when I go and make one for myself, the DIA ONCE AGAIN changes their view on the topic at hand.

And there are still no DIA at the discussion thread I laid out several posts above.[/roleplay]

I am disappointed that this is the case Unorthodox. This sort of thing is just what the DIA should of been falling over themselves to create. The DIA certainly needs to be far more pro-active with its designs.
