What kind of action would you back? To my own, if the Saudies were found in any way connected to it (which they most probably would be, financially) - we would have to invade Saudi Arabia, topple and burn Mecca to the ground, and then turn it in to an oil colony for the next few hundred years (or until it runs dry)

Yourself? I would never support a mass nuclear strike. The radiation would be intensely crippling to even the rest of the free world.

I just checked with Ming, neither of us caused your hiccup.
Titles like this are questionable, (preceding it with SCENARIO) kept me from deleting it just out of principle.

And for your info, last year, the thread here on the WTC was the first that I saw of it, so it is possible.

I'll leave this thread open for now, but if it turns into a nuke the bastards thread, it's toast.

I did close your other thread pertaining to this one. We don't have a better answer at this time.

Well...I think we should remember that some of our posters lost a lot of friends in this tragedy and may not be too thrilled about such casual speculation.
But I'm not the forum Nazi here...just putting in my .02.
I'm sure such an incident would most likely lead to the equivalent of Armageddon, if it means anything to you.

what if this time there is no way to be sure who financed it, or who was behind the attack?
I don't think the nuke would leave any evidence, and if noone claims the attack, then where would the US strike back?

I definitely think you should put WHAT IF: in front of a title like that.

I'm sure we'd find someone to nuke in that case. It might even be the country responsible. The Constitution and the laws of war would be completely ignored in the following conflict.

That is an interesting point, although in Tom Clancy novels you can trace a nuclear detonation back to the facility where the fissible material was manufactured. And of course Jack Ryan and John Clark would have the bad guys IDs in about 84 pages.

If we didn't know who did it, we'd probably start a massive retaliation against the likely suspects and then drop a hellstorm of nukes when we had it figured out. Do you think our administration would just sit back and wait for evidence?!? Ha ha ha...we'd probably nuke everyone on the way to the final target, just out of sheer rage.

well.. we've only truly had 1 semi-globally destructive war
(unless you wish to argue that World War 1 was destructive to every bit of the globe, instead of mostly just Europe)

And i think we have yet to see what a true global war could be like. with the possibilities of a western-world vs. muslim world, that could change however.

but i hope to heavens we dont see it of course.

but would nuking Mecca be the equivalent to nuking New York? Well....

look at it this way. Mecca is the holiest city on the world to every Muslim. It can't be hard to find people in the USA who don't love NY.

So, nuking Mecca may be overboards, but its the same idea in theory. Nuke the one cardinal place everyone on "the other side" holds dear. For one, the center of capitalism and freedom, for the other, the holiest city ever.

In any case, i think if something so disasterous should happen to NY, the USA would probably have to conquer all lands even remotely suspected of harboring terrorists. Its not a matter of revenge, but trully safety. If a handful of whackos can obliterate millions of innocents in an instant, then something very drastic would have to be done.

First, you need to decide whether it's campagn against all Muslims or Arabs. I prefer if we only deal with Arabs first.

Some possible actions:

- Send all Arabs living here into camps.

- Tell Israel to finish off the Palestinians.

- Blow up Egypt's Assuan Dam.

- Tell India to finish off Pakistan.

- Control/destroy all water desalination plants in the Persian Gulf. (Water is more precious there than oil.)

- Take Saudi oil fields by force.

- Encourage right wing Euros to lock up on Arab immgrants.

- Give some candies to Turkey so it doesn't become a war against all Muslims. The "candies" may include Northern Irak oil fields and control over Mecca.

- Give some other candies to Iran as well. (We will deal with them after we are done with Arabs.)
