It means CTP with Apolyton Pack installed. It's an add-on, which adds new units, graphics and several modifications. You can download it from Apolyton, downloads section of CTP. I haven't played with it ever so Nuke could explain you in more detail about it.

So far we have:

and probably Dugrik, so totally 6. Good number to start .

I'd LOVE to play a game with Apolyton Pack. I've played a full game with the pack at King level and it's much harder than the "out of the box" game.

There aren't many new units, but there's big changes to government, trade, the effect of some wonders and the cost of public works. There's a big readme doc when you install that explains these.

And the Powerslics are great and help you manage your civilization better. For example, every time one of your cities grows its population, you get told, so you take a look, think about reallocating workers to food/gold/production...

But a word of warning. I had a lot of trouble with it at first which were only fixed by a complete deinstall/reinstall of CTP. It's a big mod, but you do NOT overwrite any of your CTP files. There's only one line in a CTP text file you have to edit, everything else is installed and accessed from separate directories like Keygen's CTP PBEM mod.

Apolyton units really dont matter to me, but would be nice. Could we have a world map game? Similar to Another World, but only played faster?

I meant the Aployton Pack and,therefore, the related units. There are some differences, which I beleive is on a readme file. I dont know whats involved in using them in a PBEM game. I've played against the AI with them and its definitely more challenging. Some of the unit changes are interesting as well (e.g., catapults, archer horsemen, helicopters, satellites, and cruise missiles). I would like to try it out on a world map, but just mostly would like to play another game.

Guys,

I've been having serious problems playing with the Apolyton pack scenarios. In a private email from PN, I was advised to read the readme files and they would explain to me how to fix these problems. Guess what, the readme files I could find did not do this. I still have the problems, basically I can't load a saved game without the game crashing.

BTW, I have installed the 1.21 Hack which is reported to be the fix. It wasn't, at least for me.

So,... at this time I can't in good conscience join a pbem game using apolyton pack, because I think at best I woun't be able to play, and at worst I may accidentallly corrupt the save file.

That being said, if anyone out there has documentation which actually helped them overcome these (known) bugs, I'd be obliged for a vector.

I didn't want to suggest the readmes would tell you how to fix your problems, I was suggesting that your problems are known problems. For example, in ReadMe100 it is a known problem that you cannot load a 24-player world map saved game. First you must start the game, begin a NEW game with 24-player world map, take a single turn, save the game, then load the previously saved game that you really want to play.

This should be fixable. The pack has been around for a long time. Before I installed it, I searched the posts to see if people were having problems and generally speaking they are not. Post on the CTP General/Help/Stratgey forum exactly what you are doing step by step before the game crashes, and what goes wrong. I and others I'm sure will be able to give advice.

It is not only the youngblood games

The speed of a game depends mostly on who is playing the game, secondly if the game is in a "hot" period or it is just plain move-end turns.

You can make all the rules you want, but if yo have a few players, that follows their "own" rules or no rules - or even worse have lost their interest for that game, then.....

If all did make a turnpost, if all were active and actually nexted "sinners" by themself instead of waiting for days and days until some other player lost his patience - oh sweet dreams

I'm sure fast games are possible irrespective of experience but some of who have been around here for a while have not lost interest yet. The Island game with Solver, myself, King Thor, Kralj and Quinns is the fastest game I play. With rarely a day going by without a turn . With a fast turn rate the game gets even more fun to play.

I don't know if a good game is just luck in that the playing time of the players works well (in fact this must be a big factor but one that is not entirely in our control). The big problem with slow turn rates is that it is a downwards spiral as the slower the turn rate the less the interest and so the turn rate slows further (especially when technical problem rear their ugly head). I bet the biggest cause of lost interest and dropout among the younbloods is the slow pace of the game.

So young and old lets make the effort or leave it to those who do.

(I know I’m in danger of hypocrisy as I’ve been the cause of delay in the past, but the speed you deal with another players problem is often the biggest cause of delay)

As Birdman and I both know it gets even more painful when you have so long to wait for your inevitable execution.

Nuke, in the new game will participate 3 new guys so I would like their first game not to use the Apolyton Pack. In some players it might not running well plus that I had heard in the past that PBEM games using the Apolyton Pack suffered from some problems, not sure though.

As for using the world map is kind time consuming to make a game using it and having several cities, units and techs. I kind avoiding making games with the world map but if you all want the world map then I guess I will do it for you .

Hi, I would like to join an PBEM game. I've never played PBEM before so am definatly a youngblood. I am willing to join a game already in progress if there is a place or start in a new game.

I've got a few questions to ask though.

I have the 1.2 patch but what is the CtP 1.21 Hack?

What is the Apolyton pack and world map that some people have mentioned?

Hi Syoris.

As you probably already know patch 1.2 is required to be able to play PBEM games. 1.21 Hack is an unofficial patch fixing some minor issues. The readme file explains what it fixes. It is not required and it won't affect your ability to play via email either you have it installed or not.

Apolyton Pack is a collection of modification, which means extra units and messages, modified messages, and some other extra stuff.

World map is a saved map representing the earth.

I must warn you that PBEM games are quite slow and takes much time, more than a year for standard or a little less for Deathmatches.

As soon as some players reply to your request to join a PBEM game a new game can start. If there is any game needing replacement will be posted probably here. In fact there is an empty position in a game currently in turn 5 or 6 using the world map. I can put you there if you'd like.
