I love it how cybergod says "what, we killed merely 2000 people, what is everyone getting excited about?"

quote:
all pro-milosevic, anti-NATO ppl in this post: no use in arguing with the westerners. Their lives practically revolve around CNN bullshit. The ridiculous comparison, Milosevic=Hitler

I made the comparison and I will repeat it, actually he is far worse, because all that happened was in 21st century, and because he was raised in a country built on principles of antifascism.

quote:
is as natural a part of their lives as McDonalds and Coca-Cola.

first McDonald in my country was opened in 1995 IIRC, but speaking of which...

..did you know that first (first two I think) McDonald in yugoslavia was opened in Belgrade, prior to the wars? and that it operated the whole time? who were the customers? the Belgrade people ofcourse

look dont give me that crap of noble socialist Milosevic against the rotten capitalist west it only makes you look silly

paiktis, my figures are from CIA world factbook 2002. The way I figure it nobody knows Greece like CIA does

quote:
Budget: revenues: $45 billion
expenditures: $47.6 billion, including capital expenditures of $NA (1998 est.)

Debt - external: $57 billion (2000 est.)

Military expenditures - dollar figure: $6.12 billion (FY99/00 est.)
Military expenditures - percent of GDP: 4.91% (FY99/00 est.)

Economic aid - recipient: $5.4 billion from EU (1997 est.)

Tourism is a key industry, providing a large portion of GDP and foreign exchange earnings. Greece is a major beneficiary of EU aid, equal to about 4% of GDP.

from these simple figures I quoted it is visible how vunerable your country is. Truth is uncle Hanz is paying for your military and then something - I hope you are grateful

Thucidydes (sp?), a poster on Apolyton (an American, though he seems way too smart to be one ) is serving on Kosovo. Hopefully he will see the thread and add his point of view.

Greece supported the Serbian people and peace in the region in general.

in the book "Unholly Alliance" the writer mentiones how ex greek prime minister had some talks with Milosevic about forming a confederation or something I havent read it, I have just seen a post on usenet claiming so, so take it with reserve. Still, possible.

Unlce hanz

sorry vet but CIA "fact" book is notorious for its inaccuracy.

EU is giving to many countries. before 1981 it didnt give sh!t. so what?

we have one of the highest GDP growth so the help is not wasted. (i wish )

Abotu the unholy alliance, make no mistake about it. /bush. I will get and read it.

meanwhile about the alliance between milo and mitso.

according to rumours milo has offered greece to split FYROM in two like the good old days. half to serbia half to greece.

but these are just rumours, if you want to fester them into facts, fine

Developing nations, such as Greece, tend to have high GDP growth.

Greece is already a developed economy and has been for quite some time. still it has a way to go and it is walking the talk moneypenny. (it's way ahead of the US though)

MBFGW got mixed reviews some thought it was very mediocre (expected, not enough innovative)

i saw it though and i think it was very funny

A country that's dependent on tourism should better be nice to the home countries of their tourists.

a country should enforce the law to eveyone equally. but i guess you missed that somewhere your great analytical skills.

but I agree that we should depend less on tourism. build up the heavy industry instead.

tourism contribution to the greek economy dont mean limeys wont get it in the ass if they misbehave.

As good a man as Mandela is, he sure as **** doesn't know that much about history. While the US is, and always has, acted in its own self-interest, it's military might has kept at bay the massive wars that have plagued the world up until 1945.

I don't get how everybody bashes the US so unilaterally. I mean, yeah, Bush and his corporate Imperialist constituents are evil. So was Clinton. But America's impact on the world, overall, has been a positive one.

As for Iraq? I'm for removing Saddam and the rest of the dictatorial Arab governments. Do I trust Bush? No... Does he have alterior motives? I'm sure as **** that he does. Should Saddam be allowed to continue his reign? No...

and Serbs overthrew Milosevic with the aid of nato. Who knows when they would do it themselves - the region simply couldnt wait any more for them to get it done.

You have no idea how this comment insults and discusts me. I am not saying I liked it at all to watch my people starve and struggle day by day as he and his bellowed family held banquets, opened discos, engaged in gang-warfare etc... But if you believe that the Serbian people will ever EVER thank NATO for "freeing" us, you need to consult your shrinks...

And do not say Tudjman didn't make deals with Milosevic about dividing Bosnia between them, as if it was a piece of cake full of realpolitik, disregarding the fragile ethnic situation there.

[quote}I love it how cybergod says "what, we killed merely 2000 people, what is everyone getting excited about?" [/quote]

Stop turning my words upside down. What I was trying to say was that the pro-Nato media kept on manipulating the figures of war casualities in the conflict, so they would gain public support to conduct their criminal action against the Serbian people. And if you read my post correctly, that figure included all casualities of the war - including the deaths caused by the KLA. And as I watched BBC News talk about the mass expultion of Serbian people from Kosovo by the KLA under the noses of Nato troops, and un-emotionally regarding it as a "eye-for-an-eye" conflict, in which the Allies shouldn't be involved in (no of course, Serbs are not worth living, the collective guilt is compulsory), I nearly shattered the screen with the remote control...

Do not blame us, blame your Tito.

I never said Milosevic was noble. Nor his wife.

And why do you all believe that all of us Serbian people are pro-communist? I myself am pro-Green but our economy requires pro-Industrialism at the moment... We'll see who wins at the elections now - Labus (the economist) or Kostunica (the lawyer).
