Straybow ... it's no use having 4 engineers on the same tile changing terrain! To do this quickly you must use Xin's method of no more than two working at a time and rotating their work schedule.

1853 = Konigsberg reduced by BB bombardment and taken for 425g - four partisans ethnically cleansed - Fundamentalism (SG[1] quickly checks the Oedo table - snatched from his hand by SG(2)); Our spy establishes an Embassy with the Brits and then buys Norwich for 89g - 25g and an Engineer with Genetic Engineering; Hides, One Wonders-Byblos: 318g;

The Grand Plan has been formulated (and we're only on bottle one!):
The Institute will be refounded on the island to the North, this and the other two island colonies will produce soft fluffy armours for the removal of the chinese coastal cities. Meanwhilst... the home continent will concentrate upon Superhighways (the odd airport) and freights. The Celts have a power base that rivals our own - and, being in Fundy, lots of cash -- I humbly suggest that their teeth be extracted forcibly ...

As will have ben noted we have avoided Space Flight and Nuclear Fission like the plague!! There is no way we can protect all our far flung Empire from Tech theft - and it will be damn hard to stop the AI from building Manhatten once they get the bit between their teeth ...

Since I'm back in school, playing time is rather limited for me, so I feel it'd be best for everyone if I passed. Well, my play has been predicated on getting to AC, but the lack of WoW-building has led us to explore. And with exploration comes opportunities...

Seriously, I vote we get to Apollo and go to the stars. we've been building the production capability and tech lead, but it seems that eliminating competition along the way has become a fun part of the trip.

Question for recent players -- We eliminated Berlin and IIRC Konigsberg, both of which had WoWs. Presumably, they were wiped out, not captured (since that would be against the Rules of the Sticky Mouse Academy!).

Did we starve/poison them down to Pop=1, or what?

During our turns we thought that the AI had become a little too powerful so we decided on a warlike course before reaching the spaceship stage.

Unless we wish to destroy all the AI cities with wonders to nothing, a spaceship is perhaps a quicker option.

Berlin was utterly destroyed and rebuilt on the same site. Konigsberg was taken after Automobile had made Leo's redundant. The capture of cities with wonders which have expired is allowed as there is no extra gain.

I'm not and never have been interested in the Civ score. You will find that some of the great games played by members of Apolyton have resulted in poor scores. I would much rather achieve an early landing/conquest date.

General plan:
Research SPACE FLIGHT slowly (which means quickly increasing our treasury), smash the Celts and the Egyptians (because they are the stronger AI civs), smash the Chinese and the Japanese (because they are close to us and we want them to keep quiet when we start building SS parts).
I played 8 turns (because we are close to the endgame).

Main events:
1866 Celts land on 2 smaller islands of ours and sink 2 transports.
1867 We kill the Celtic bad guys and send their destroyers to the bottom
1869 One of our mighty BB sinks after heavy attack by several Celtic submarines and destroyers (IIRC they lose 6 to 1, yet I don't like loosing a BB )
The Chinese attack Tsingtao (and fail). We take Nanking meanwhile .
1870 We take Kells (280g in plunder). Celtic government escapes to Carmarthen.
1872 SPACE FLIGHT discovered. PLASTICS researched.

Appolo should be completed next year.
Our treasury is over 6000g now and most core cities of the Celts, the Egyptians, the Chinese and the Japanese are close to our mighty howies and armours, so I guess we should be able to build a HUGE space ship while waiting for Fusion Power to be discovered.

A nuclear bloodbath would require Manhattan to be built wouldn't it?
Even if the AI steals Fission as soon as we discover it, they will need several turns before completing Manhattan (especially since we are going to hammer both the Celts and the Egyptians in the meantime

If we go on delivering a few freights in order to improve our research rate, which is close to 1tech/2,5turns, we should be able to launch within 10 turns from now.

IMO the risk of nukes is low.

Also Durrow Beads and Hoover Gems airlifted to or near One WoW, and Buto Oil approaching. Delivering them should be more than enough for the tech to follow NP (hopefully Laser will be available).

Too many units were sent to the main Chinese continent because I wasn't thinking that capture was forbidden due to active WoWs. Troops amassed in and near Kagoshima.

Check this out: Two different values for equivalent commodity routes between the same two cities. I experimented with sending another Hides to One WoW, and the value went by only one arrow to +5. How come?
