If you wish me to play before you, just let me know.
(I have no strategic meeting on Friday, ...nevertheless a lot of 'vin nouveau' is now flooding to my place, which allows me to say 'cheers' to the honourable members of the gaming society in Liverpool)

SG(2)… gone but not forgotten

Meh? I left only two cities producing minor CIs, expensive Cathedrals were mostly all in place where needed. What did you spend 1k on? Converting the Harbor into a Musketeer in OneW (oops, didn't recall disbanding the Phalanx) shouldn't have costed much at all.

Don't you mean NoVotes4Women??? What's anybody "voting" anyway??

I sure hope that was a freebee—you didn't drag a settler way over there, didja?

First I complain about a city way off the beaten path, now I complain about a city built too close… SG(2) must've been really blotto

Sure, I've often used the defensive split to save a city, like in a previous succession game [see below where barbs were about to attack, so one Musketeer already in the field moved into EofM and another stepped out of Cremona into the forest to split the attack]. Put a strong defender on terrain near the vulnerable city and the AI loses one attacker and wastes a second attack killing off the distraction. Two remaining barbs attack the city but are unlikely to kill both Musketeers, and hopefully one defender has enough hp left to finish off the attacker next round.

Both lazy engineers have been immediately sent to the swamps by the new adviser and the science slider has been 'corrected' upwards .
It appears that we are now supreme and well ahead in techs. I have therefore decided to be very peaceful and grow our trading capacity as fast as possible.
Corporation is discovered in 1784, providing higher bonuses (best one: 612g for delivery of silk in Egypt).
Conscription is discovered in 1788, then Electricity in 1794, then Steel in 1798. Refining should be discovered in 1802. Our rate of research should never be less than 2turns/tech from now on, and we should be able to launch before 1870.
Other events:
Adamscoffin created in 1780.
Sneak attack by the English and the Japanese in 1786: they die .
TheInstitute destroyed by barbs in 1786 (our mighty fortified musketman gets killed by attacking barb musketman , rest in peace).
We trade techs with the Chinese in 1794 (Conscription against Direction, oh well, they asked for it ).
Strong barb attack against RampantCancer in 1798 (at least 4 knights stacked onboard a frigate ). They will have 5300 gold. We say 'nuts' and they take the city, giving us 4 partisans (I love that ). I have killed those barbs because they were naughty, but I have left the city painted red, just in case my successor wishes to buy barb knights .
Our trading network is organized as follows:
A shipchain between Antigizeh and Elephantine. A link between our two main islands (transport based in Frankfurt). A shipchain (simplified) between Heidelburg and Cardiff.
