No, you're wrong. A president isn't the moral leader of a nation. The Pope is a moral leader, imans and bishops are, but not politicians. Granted, a president shouldn't break the law, but having an affair is hardly breaking the law. And on top of that, there are dozens upon dozens of politicians that have or have had affairs. Hell, even boring old John Mayor had an affair!! If you really believe politicians should be saints, you're living in a dream world. |
It doesnt take a saint to not get a blowjob from a woman who isnt your wife. Look at it this way. The president is the ultimate public servant, so really he works for the american people. If you caught your employee getting a blowjob when he should be working wouldnt you fire him?

Are you THAT incredibly ignorant? Clinton had high aproval ratings most of his time in office. Often VERY high for not being at war. I guess that goes with you preposterous claim that Bush understands the economy. Well maybe he does understand that it has been going down the tubes.

Clinton did better when he was Governor than as President. He had an affair with Elizabeth Gracen, actress and former Miss America.

Ethel with his pro-Clinton propaganda. Clinton didn't know how to run squat. |
Such a rebuttal. I am so stupified by your stunning use of evidence and wit.
So I take it you are admiting you just invented those figures of 30 to 40 percent approval for Clinton. I suppose you always call the truth mere propaganda. Clinton had high approval ratings most of his time in office. If you want to claim otherwise you had best back up your claims. I know you don't understand the concept of support but NO ONE is backing you on this because even the Right Wingers know you invented those numbers.

To elaborate, 'cause I haven't seen anyone else explain:
US Constitution, Amendment 22; passed March 21, 1947; ratified February 27, 1951
Summary: No person may be elected President more than twice. No person who completes more than two years of another President's term may be elected more than once.
George Washington was the first to limit himself to two terms and Franklin Roosevelt ran for a third and fourth term in 1940 and 1944 respectively. This Amendment was added, presumably, to formalize the traditional Presidential term limit set by George Washington after FDR broke with that tradition.
Frankly, I don't see the need. In order to keep office at any level, you have to be popular with the voters (for the most part...WELL aware of other less-than-democratic factors in politics...), and in order to be popular with the voters, you have to do your job to their liking or else they won't reelect you. FDR was a good enough President that he won a third term in 1940 and felt he was popular enough to run for a fourth, prior to the 22nd Amendment.
If a person does their job and does it well, let them run.
