Got spare money?

I at one time I had a beard and long hair. I did receive flak from employers about that.

I can only imagine the reaction of some prospective boss of a conservative company to a polictically radical individual who believes in destroying corporations.

Of course, a game designing company may not care at all.

How am I supposed to work on my interview technique when I am still waiting for feedback from the interviewers? I mean, I have been really trying to get a job. I have this job temporarily, but it is amazing if I get an interview, let alone getting a job. This present one is just agency work and they didn't interview me as such. Just as well I suppose.

I am just scared by having to go through the same crap I have had in the last 8 months before this position came up. It was demoralising. My confidence is already crushed, to find out I will be out of my arse again in a matter of weeks doesn't help. Seeming to do well in an interview and doing your best but still failing really knocks you. I just don't seem to be able to compete, and you really do ask yourself 'Why am I bothering?' when all you get is it thrown back in your face. I've tried to make all the right decisions, I have had a good degree, I have research experience and work experience, but still, it never seems to be enough, I never seem to be good enough. This is really, really making my life hell. I had a panic attack last night over this and I really don't think I can go back on the dole for that length of time without topping myself...seriously. Things just seem so bleak and so hopeless, especially when I see how my friends are doing, and how everyone plays me up to be this 'genius' and so capable and so brilliant. I feel like a thorough failure, so believe me, it seems very hard to implement this advice when you feel you are losing the will to live...

I have a small question. should one place a thing as this on his resume? :

"Learning interpersonal skills and gaining extensive experience in cutting a wide variety of food products into rather small pieces"-Boshko

do I have to list all the little summer jobs, and things like that , for example.

( I am jobhunting too, of course. )

Yes, it is an indicator of work experience, but concentrate on 'bullsh*tising' it

Rich, from your previous posts here on 'Poly, I can tell you aren't a natural at reading body language. You need that in situations other than chasing women.

What I recommend you to do is go back to Oxford and use the services at the alumni office. I think they should have some training on job interview techniques. Also try to find out if there are any alumni working in biochem companies and the like - not your year, but those around 40 - 50 - and write to them. Also check see if they have some kind of mentor program. You should join up if there's one.

What on earth has reading body language got to do with anything? This is about what I can offer the position!

And I got feedback from the previous position, a rather succinct one. Just that there was someone with more experience for the position. Is this a permanent thing, where even having experience in a similar area is not enough? Again, there is nothing wrong with how I conducted myself in these interviews, but the jobs are just out of my reach.

Yeah, all over the UK SpencerH...

And DinoDoc, I am not entirely sure. I think it maybe in some ways, it just takes a bit of explaining around, but I think I have covered it effectively in the interviews I have had, it hasn't been given as a reason for not offering me the position. Whether they are just saying that is another question...
