I don't think there has been a single game released in the last 6 months that doesn't run on XP even if it was not explicitly tailored for it.

XP won't be "officially" supported; the reason I've heard most often is that they don't want to go through the time, hassle, and money that it takes to go through MS's circus to get it "official".

But it's definitely *expected* to run on XP, and I'm sure any XP-specific technical issues would get addressed if they crop up.

I haven't tried any Dos games since I moved to XP. Does it get round the conventional memory problems that Win 95/98 had or do you still need a DOS boot disk to run them?

Update: The Infogrames site for MOO3 now lists XP as a supported Operating System. I updated the System Requirements thread on the official forum to reflect this.

So, all you XP users may "officially" rest easy.

Nah, if you get paid you become an evil capitalist corporate mouthpiece, so we stop thanking you and start screaming when you are 0.00001 nanoseconds late announcing stuff we have no right to demand answers to

Stay amateur and soak up the adoration

Does this mean you're our new MOO3 content editor or do you just sneak over from the QS site occasionally?

Heh, fair enough.

I'm not "officially" anything MOO3; so I think the answer to your question is "no".

Unofficially, however, I'm a pretty good source for MOO3; it's just that some things I'm not *allowed* to share until the game goes live. So, you can ask me almost anything you're wondering, and you'll at least get a "Yes/No/NDA" answer.

Got spare money?

Have the battle graphics been overhauled since the release of the battle avi?

Is the AI capable of handing you your butt on a platter if you aren't careful?

Do the different races play to their strengths or is the AI pretty generic?

So here's a question for you. Can you tell your spy who to kill, what to destroy or what kind of tech he should steal like in MOO1?

Thanks

Hmm. "Don't know," "I think so," and "No idea."

One of the 25 beta testers might be able to answer those questions better than I can.

Um, I don't know for sure, but I don't think so. I think you recruit spies for a particular "circle" as before (military, scientific, etc.) -- it's just that, now, you don't *also* specify a particular operation style (blunt instrument, sharp instrument, etc.) -- they do any of those things within the circle.

It's always been the case that, given the circle and operation type, what you "obtain" (who got killed, what building got destroyed where, what tech you stole, whatever) is drawn from a lottery (not an equal-across-the-board lottery, though...there are various factors). How much of that is still "in", I don't know.

It's true...but i MOO1 you could tell your spy: "destroy missile bases on Sol" or "destroy Factories on Sol" or "steal some Energy tech". It was very specific...you could choose the planet you wanted to target and i used it a lot when i prepared an invasion in MOO1. If he achieved that or not was dependent on the rate between ours and theirs intelligence plus chance (lottery). And that was missing in MOO2...that's the reason why i use intelligence only for internal security...almost never for sabotage or tech.

Then i don't know what edition i have because i can
When he is ready, he asks me which planet he should target. Then i get a Galaxy map with the location of systems of the enemy. I only have info (how many missile bases, how many factories) of the planets i have visited before, but i can target everywhere in the enemy's territory...but usually i concentrate on the planets i plan to conquer as i said before or the tech fields i am interested in (i always look for Black hole Generator).

PS. i just did again (i am playing with the mighty Darloks right now)...selected a planet to destroy missile bases....3 out of 4 destroyed

Thats always been a pet peeve of mine with the space games. For espionage and sabotage to be effective it needs to be targetted. Civ's approach of moving each spy around the map is a little too simplistic but is often more useful than the option to destroy things at random.

I tend to agree; I'd like operations like "soften up this world for an invasion" that are targeted, along with the more general ones like "steal me some technology".

Maybe MOO4

Could you post the save, I would like to see that. I only put spies on sabatoge after I have stolen everything they have and I have never seen it ask for any planet selection and I have played at least 2,000 games.

I don't know how to post something from my own computer on this board...only images or else from websites.

Anyway, when your spy is ready you see a planet selected with, on the right side of your screen, the options base, factories and revolt. On your left side you have the galaxy map where you see the selected planet. You can then change the planet by clicking on another system of your enemy (the one you want to conquer)....that's it.

If you tell me how to post screenshots from my own computer i will put it here.
