Actually, I would argue that you are your zoloft. We are watery bags filled with a mix of interesting chemicals. Organic machines built of flesh and bone, protein and suger. trying to reason your emotions is like your arms trying to will your legs to move. It's not going to happen. Your emotions are simply more basic and more of a foundation of your mind then rationality is. In fact, without emotion, your ability to reason becomes impaired. Trust me, there are enough bipolar depressives in my family to gain some understanding on the subject, and I can tell you it's not possible to reason depression or mania away for that matter.

you are wrong, i promise you. It isn't actually all that hard of a thing to do. I can't tell you the last time is was actually mad. I've gotten some pretty freakin bad news recently, and I didn't let it upset me. And as for drinking strictnine, i'm not sure how acoiding a chemical reaction that will make you die is anything like controlling your emotions

Emotions are chemicals. Will power alone does not change the outcome of a chemical reaction, you just swamp the local equilibrium with another reaction (suppression of emotions).

Ron, clearly that is out of the scope of what i was talking about. However, taking in to consideration that you are the moron that you are, I'll address it anyway. Even people with terminal illnesses have a choice about how they let it affect their psyche. They can lie down in a dark corner and wait to die, or they can fight back, choose to live what life they have left and enjoy it. People overcome such things every day.

Starchild: it is clear that you don't understand either. I'm not saying that one can say "I want to be god" and poof they're god. I'm saying that everyone has problems. Everyone faces challenges. How you choose to let these challenges affect you is the point of this post.

Now explain how people with a psychological illness have a choice about how it affects their psyche. Preferably avoid the trite "greetings card" approach that you've used so far.

bugs, as with all medications, there are those rare individuals who need them. However, today is seems such drugs are used as an escape from reality more often than because they are actually needed. Poor little rich girl isn't having a great day, and mommy gives her some of her zoloft. Then all of a sudden she thinks she needs it. Point is that it seems that people always want to take the easy way out. Suck it up a little and take control.
