The Brumbies seem to have had access to the best of them for some reason. Not just for the decoy runner stuff but for the whole gamut of backline moves. I remember one classic backline scenario a couple of years ago where the entire backline lined up behind the scrum. They went every-which-way. I just wish I'd seen some of the French-Boks match. Apart from that dubious off-side try! Though our amis seemed to think it wasn't much of a spectacle or guide thanks to the Boks. I suppose - guessing - I'd have to think the ABs - if they play up to last week's form - might win by 5. Should be a ripper game, though. But I won't see it! I get Scotland -v- Springboks live!

My thoughts on the other game are well known. I'm hoping that the stated Wallaby intentions to go for it and throw it around will at least help to lift the quality of their work. Of course it might all backfire, but I'd rather see them go down gloriously than keeping turning it back inside all day and running into lantern-jawed brick walls. So, on the basis of their stated intentions - and with fingers mightily crossed - I'd say England by 8 is probably fair enough.

Well there is Kafer of course. The Tigers back line is more organised than England. But then our centres are any two from four – two Englishmen, a Bok and a Aussie.

I once saw a documentary about the development - some would say bastardisation - of American spelling with all sorts of alternative spellings that Mr Webster had proposed. I've forgotten them now, unfortunately, but there were some thoroughly incredible gems. They weren't accepted. Actually, I must hunt out the topic on the internet because I'm sure I'll find them.

What I like about Union is that this remains the exception rather than the rule. We are therefore surprised when we find a rugby player who isn’t a ‘nice guy’ off the field.

We have a similar outlook. It is amazing however that all couples with children seem driven to coerce everyone they know to follow the example. My theory on this is firmly that they want everyone else to be as thoroughly miserable as they are.

Another valid point is the incredible well being they feel as they doze with their child on their lap is a purely instinctive (and largely brain chemistry led) reaction to touch and smell stimuli. I can get this from alcohol and the alcohol doesn’t need changing and feeding in the morning or, apart from a small vestige in the blood stream, carrying around all day.

Having said that all power to those happily settled with kiddies – to each their own and all that.

I think too much for an ex-front rower sometimes.

My wife and I definitely want kids. Personally, I think its the greatest experience anyone can have in this life. Without this experience I would feel like I missed out. Also I think raising good kids is the most important job on the planet. Lord knows we could do with a few more good people on this world.

Each to his own though. Probably the worst thing you could do is have kids when you don't want them.

A book has been published in NZ this week about the betrayel of NZ Rugby. It states that our national game is being overtaken by soccer among kids. A fact is: At Auckland Grammer School, in 1995, there were 17 Rugby teams and 10 Soccer teams. Now there are 12 Rugby teams and 19 Soccer teams. It blames Player greed and proffesionalism for the sudden change.

IMO, it is a shame that our national game is being overtaken by soccer, but I suppose we have to look at the mass commercialization of soccer I also think it's a shame when we view a team losing to England as a triumph, when in fact it was a shame to see a second string, Americanised team be defeated by England. Whether we lost by 3 or 300, we lost. Its a real shame that our loss to England is being viewed as a triumph.

If greed and professionalism are to blame S***** is doomed, believe a Northern Hemisphere Rugby fan forced to hear about this damned sport everyday of his life when he turns on the radio or reads a newspaper. There was no man happier than me in France when the French players didn't qualify for the second round of the 2002 S***** World Cup, at least we would no more hear about this sport so often.

If S***** is becoming the first sport everywhere it is mainly because its rules, as well as the game in itself, are far more simpler than the Rugby laws and because the kids can play S***** younger. Another thing to bear in mind, four players are enough to start a S***** match.
